Hello, installed Newsgator 2.0 last night and there have definately been some improvements. Switching between mail and the newspage is much, much faster One question though, on the newspage, when I click an article it opens the 'post' item in Outlook. Can this somehow be turned of to automatically go to the page content rather than post item in Outlook? Thanks

There is also a post link on the NewsPage, that would take you directly to the post's web site. It's right next to the link you're talking about. You could also customize this if you wish - you would need to modify your NewsPageTmpl.xml file to change the template. Not for the faint of heart, but definitely possible.

Hi Greg, thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately there is no post link as far as I can tell. On the news page for a given post I get the following: Post title - which redirects to outlook post file mark post as read delete post folder where the post is stored - (ie which folder in the pst file where the post is located) date and time stamp of the post Can you shed some light on where this post link is located. Maybe I'm just missing something? Thanks

Take a look at http://www.newsgator.com/ShowImage.aspx?url=ss_newspage.gif You can see the "go to post" link right next to the title of each item. Are you missing that link? If you're missing the link: - What version of Outlook are you using?
- What OS are you running?
- What version of IE do you have installed?

| yep, I saw that earlier. I am missing that link. I'm runnint outlook 2000, windows 2000, and ie that comes with 2000. However, I'm not running ie as the default browser. I use netcaptor as my default brower. So I had to change the newspage extension to one I created which is just the default with a changed extension.

Hi Greg, So I posted this message in the morning. Went to work and came home, opened up my newspage and behold, the square with a an arrow in it showed up for the news feed. Great, something changed but I didn't do a thing and I can automatically goto the post. BUT, couple of hours later I go back to the newspage and some post are showing the square with an arrow and others are not. This makes me believe that depending on the feed, some will show a direct link (ie square with an arrow) and other feeds will not. Is this the case?

If there is a link, there should be an icon. Some posts won't have one; for example, NNTP newsgroup posts won't have an external link icon. But for weblog posts, it's pretty rare to find one that won't have links. Can you post the URL of a particular feed for which you don't see links?

You know, I thought of something that could very well explain what you're seeing. Only posts that were actually retrieved AFTER you installed 2.0 will show links on the NewsPage. Posts retrieved with 1.3 won't have this link. Does that explain what you're seeing?

Hi Greg, Sorry for taking so long to get back to you but work has been demanding. Anyway, I think your initial assessment was correct. It's only newsgroups which are not showing the square with an arrow (still haven't figured what to call it) icon. I had a bunch of articles/posts via newsgroups the first time I tried it. Everything is working just fine. Thanks for the insight and keep up the awsome work. Eric
