I'm confused by My Account and this whole Newsgator CRAP. I'm getting conflicting information at every turn, and I'm being asked to change account types every time I try to do something. Why do I have to change my contractual agreement with the company? Why am I signed up for a Pay Account? If I go with the pay account why am I told in one place that I have to pay $19ish and in another place $1.95 in 2007? What the heck is this subscription thing? I want a news reader not a subscription. What exactly do I get for the $19ish a year? I get a bullet list of marketing speak not a list of features or what they exactly are. If change to the free account how are you going to give me the $4ish dollars you say you owe me? Is there anyplace I can download FD 1.5? 2.0 is not ready for prime time in my opinion. I'm really confused, and to top all this off I'm still running into problems with FeedDemon pegging my processor at 100% and the only open solution being.... Turn off Sync. Which doesn't help becuase I have FD to go online and read feeds. As a computer programmer, I can only guess how confusing this is to someone who isn't as technically savey. Ted

Part of the system upgrade to support the new desktop clients was to simply our various subscription types to two: - Free (same as the free account before) - Premium (encompasses all of the paid accounts we had previously)
Part of the agreement for FeedDemon customers was that they will get two years of Business Standard (now Premium) subscription. Because you were a beta tester, you had a Business Standard account which is why you're being prompted to convert. A new user wouldn't see this.
The conversion process notifies customers what the first charge will be and when it will occur. You won't be charged anything until that time and only if you have billing info on record with NewsGator.
The Premium subscription is functionally the same as the Business Standard subscription you've had up until now. The listing of features on the conversion page needs to be corrected. But basically, the Premium subscription gives you synchronization and any updates (minor or major) that are published while your subscription is active. The NewsGator subscription also replaces the eSellerate activation that FD 1.x used.
If you downgrade to Free, you won't get a refund for the balance. It will stay as an available balance on your account.
I responded in the other thread about CPU usage. Setting FD to work offline was just a troubleshooting step to see if the usage was due to updating. By forcing FD to stay offline it appears to confirm that guess. I'll continue supporting that issue in the other thread.
