Friday I downloaded FeedDemon and set it to synch with NewsGator. After the download was completed I received a message stating that synchronization was not available at this time. So, I come back today, Sunday and I'm getting the same message. I log on to NewsGator to see if there is some setting I'm supposed to adjust and I start getting another error message stating that "The NewsGator location designated no longer exists, please choose another location" When I click 'OK' I get a selection window with no available selections so I cancel out of it. I went to "Settings" in my account and 'Locations' and all possible locations are selected (I guess that is the default) so I'm not sure which one 'no longer exists'. For a trial run this isn't going so well. Anyone got suggestions for a feed-virgin?

The first time you ran FeedDemon, it asked you to set a location. That is so that you can keep your unread/read posts correct if you use different computers. That's the location you want, assuming you're on the same computer.
To change your location in FD, go Tools -> General -> Synchronization and set the location.

I'm an FD noob, too.
That happened to me when I first installed a month ago.
In FD, click Tools, Options. Then click the Synchronization and Choose buttons. Select a location name, if there is any listed. Otherwise, enter the same location name as you have in Newsgator. Log in to Newsgator and click My Settings, Edit Locations. You should find locations in bold headings there. I have "NewsGator Web Edition" and "home" locations. Once you have the correct name, in FD, you should get the feeds.
