This error is easily reproducable: 1. Uninstall Feedstation 2. Select the option to open enclosures in default web browser 3. Subscribe to a feed that offers mp3 enclosures, do not enable option to have enclosures downloaded automatically eg http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/rmhttp/downloadtrial/radioscotland/scottishfootball/rss.xml 4. When you left click the paper clip icon in a post, the mp3 opens in media player, all fine there. 5. If you try to right click the paper clip and choose 'Save target as' you get 'Download could not complete' What I would expect to see is an option to save the mp3 to the hard drive a la Internet Explorer

Actually, if you look at the newspaper source, you'll see it's not a regular URL, it's one of FeedDemon's fdaction, so there's no way to "Save Target As...". You don't need steps 1-4 to repro it - you get the same message regardless of whether or not FS is installed or the status of the "open enclosures in default browser" setting, because it's not a normal URL.

If FeedStation is uninstalled, you'll need to configure FeedDemon to handle downloads as a normal browser.
- Click Tools | Options | General tab - Click the Enclosures/Podcasts... button - Select "Open it in my default browser"
FeedDemon should handle the absence of FeedStation, so I've added a bug. (57033)
Note that, without FeedStation, you won't be able to use any of the automated enclosure downlading functionality.

Jack, he had already done that (Step 2 ) - his issue is occurring because the enclosure URL is an fdaction and not a regular URL - as I noted Steps 1-4 don't even need to be done - you get the same error he noted whether or not FS is installed

Thanks both for the info. If this behaviour is expected then I suppose this should be a feature request, to make it possible to download files directly by right clicking on the paper clip. At the very least they should probably change the 'download could not complete' error\information message to make it clearer that it's not an error. I see that when you hover the pointer over the paper clip the URL in the bottom left of FD looks like a regular http:// link so the impression that gives to users is that normal 'save target as' rules might apply so I reckon this area could be tidied up a bit. Thanks again, this forum seems pretty good at giving good answers.

Is this a code fix or a style fix?

Nick didn't say, but I presume it's a code fix because FD has to change it's behavior based on FS' presence.
