Am I asking too much of NNW? I set up vanity feeds at MonitorThis and all is well. When I tried setting up new feeds to monitor new topics, the results of the new search show up in my existing vanity feed subscriptions. It's obviously the same (or nearly the same) feed sources, with the only difference being the search query. I looked at the URLs for the now-misbehaving subscriptions, and they are correct. Only the results are wrong.

Have I confused NNW or is this just asking too much of the current state of the search engines' RSS capabilities? It doens't seem to be limited to any particular search provider.

NNW 2.1, OS X 10.3.9

As long as the URLs are different, everything should work fine. Two questions:

1. What are the URLs of two of the feeds that appear to get mixed up together?

2. Are you using NewsGator syncing or .Mac/FTP syncing or no syncing?

One of the URLs from the original vanity search:

http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=nathan+gilliatt&format=rss&FORM=RSRE

Change the query to a company name (q=something+else), and the new search results show up under the old subscription, too. I'd rather not mention the companies that I'm tracking.

I'm using NewsGator syncing, but I don't really use NewsGator. I guess I should turn that off.

The problem appeared as I was importing the OPML files from MonitorThis. I wanted to set up multiple similar sets, but the latest addition semeed to smear all over the results of the older searches. It occurs to me that I haven't seen as much of it this morning, since I haven't been adding more (yet). Maybe something that happens during the initial mass-subscribe that will clear up in the next session?

I turned off NewsGator syncing and haven't seen the problem since. I haven't tried a mass-subscribe lately, either, though.
