Sync Clippings in .Mac please - does not appear to do this properly

I spent an hour on my laptop, sorting clippings and was then horrified (exaggeration) to find that clippings do not sync back to my main machine. FULL sync of ALL key functions is absolutely vital in this travelling age.

.Mac Sync is still VERY slow on quit, depite a 1mB upload connection

.Mac Sync window takes over the world - please let oit stay in the background

Clippings. I could not make the clippings folder function until I had made subfolders ??

Great app and getting better - Cheers, Robert.

At this point, Clippings are a NewsGator function, so they are only available via NewsGator Sync.

I've put in a Feature request in the system (98085) to see if we can do it with .Mac - If we do, it will use .Mac sync services, so it won't be available for FTP sync.

.Mac and FTP are currently the same - NewsGator Sync is slightly different.

.Mac and FTP Sync:

  • Tabs
  • Subscriptions list
  • The news item status - not the actual post, just if it has been marked as read, flagged or followed. The news item itself is downloaded from the actual source on the next refresh.

NewsGator Sync:

  • Unlike .Mac and FTP, since NewsGator store both the news items and the status (Rather than the source storing the item and .Mac/FTP storing the status) Sync and refresh are a single action.
  • Miss less with NewsGator sync - it will download posts from the last 14 days, up to a maximum of 200 - rather than just what is in the source (What is in the source is the minimum, even if it is more than 200)
  • Subscription list Sync
  • Marked as Read and flag state - but not followed
  • Clippings
  • Not tabs (yet)

Hopefully that clears it up for you a little. I'm happy to expand if anything isn't clear
