I've created a CodePlex project with the initial stab (read-only) at a Newsgator Powershell Provider. I'm still working on the instructions to get it running (if you want to try, drop me a note via the CodePlex contact link, or email aaronlerch [at] yahoo [dot] com).
So far you can navigate to "newsgator:" and browse your folders and posts, but you can't read a post explicitly, nor can you mark one as read. There's a bit of work to be done, so if you're interested in helping, let me know.

| hi, very interested in working, "Storing the NewsGator credentials securely" is useful.
I think "optionally pre-loading all unread posts" is needlessly. Thanks.

Agree with alansnoog.
Optionally pre-loading all unread posts (as opposed to the current lazy retrieval method) interesting feature
