Hi,

I have installed the Newsgator Outlook plugin to retrieve an Authenticated RSS feed from an online Central Desktop workspace.

I am using the following URL:

http://api.centraldesktop.com/wsxml?q=4353714985ab0e75cbd61462f167a6478e0aa94-43537159-rss-2.0

As this requires my login details I set up the authentication to use my login details for Central Desktop. I reported this as a bug to Central Desktop thinking that it was a problem with a feed itself rather than the reader but they have been able to replicate issue across multiple feeds/accounts but have made it work fine with the Newsgator installed application and a handful of other readers.

The problem is that when Newsgator attempts to synchronise with the feed I get an error message saying:

"Retrieval for subscription "Runway Issues" failed with the following error:

The remote server returned an error: (400) Bad Request."

After this message there is another message saying that this subscription has been removed with a message saying:

"Your subscription to "Runway Issues" no longer exists for this location in NewsGator Online and has been removed."

Why is this happening and how can I fix it.

Thanks,

Chris

The error message that the subscription has been deleted sounds like a minor bug in Inbox. I'll look into it.

With the 400 issue, you'll have to work with the feed provider to find out how they would like you to retrieve the feed. Hopefully they are not using Cookie based authentication as it is not supported in Inbox.

I have had confirmation from Central Desktop that they do not use Cookie authentication. Instead they use HTTPAUTH authentication.

Hope this helps.

You said they were able to get their feeds working with Inbox, correct? Do you know how they did this?

It's their server reporting the error. I'm not sure how much help I can be here.

This test build should have this issue resolved:

Thanks for this Nick.

I have just installed the test version and it seems to download the feeds fine but it is not logging me in to the feed.

Central Desktop provides this message in the feed content itself:

Javascript is disabled in your browser. We require Javascript to be enabled in order to operate. Please enable Javascript by changing your browser preferences. After enabling Javascript, try again.

What's wrong here?

Can't do anything about that in Inbox. Even though Outlook has a browser, it's not full featured for security reasons which is most likely why you're getting that error.

BTW - where are you seeing that? Is it an Inbox alert?

Hi Nick,

Thanks for this. It seems to be working now? Very strange.
