Hi,

I have just started using FeedDemon, I'm not new to desktop RSS reading though (been using RSSBandit). I have two specific questions:

When I scroll through my feeds (in a particular folder), I'd like it to turn the feeds as 'Read' automatically. Currently, when I'm scrolling, and after I move to different folder, all the read and unread feeds turn to as 'Read'. I only want my read feeds to be turned read, and not the unread ones. I played with the Options - Reading settings, but apparently it is nothing or all.

I want to specify my browser, is there a way to specify a browser (other than the default one)?

Thank you.

For the first question; Click on Tools | Options | Reading tab. Select the options that says "Mark selected item as read."

For the second question; FeedDemon uses Internet Explorer as its embedded browser. There is no getting around that as it is the only embeddable browser on the market. However, you can tell FeedDemon to launch items in your default browser. Just click on Tools | Options | Browsing tab.

Keith, thanks for the reply.

I selected the option as you suggested, but this doesn't appear to be my solution. Perhaps I was not clear enough of what exactly I seek. In my RSSBandit, when I scroll the feeds (via mouse scroller), my feed items automatically turns as 'Read' (except perhaps for last few on the page which I have to click to make it read). This isn't exactly how FD is responding. With above suggested settings checked, I am now scrolling the page but the feed items are NOT turning up as 'Read' (I have to click on the icon to toggle read, this click is something I'm trying to avoid).

I keep IE as my default browser but I use Flock for my regular reading/browsing (due to a very good reason of Adblock extention). In RSSBandit, there is an option to select the browser of your choice (by selecting the exe of the program file). So when I click on my feed links, it takes me to my Flock browser.

BTW, aside from these two critical features, I find FD much faster than RSSBandit.

Try using shortcut keys to navigate. Hit Ctrl + K to see the list and configure the way you like.

I'm afraid there is no way to designate another browser that is not the default. Perhaps this functionality will be added in the future.
