When I opened NNW a few days ago, the center column in widescreen view was missing. I was able to get it back by deleting the headlinesHTMLSplitViewVertical key in the com.ranchero.NetNewsWire.plist file when NNW was closed. This fixed the issue for a few hours but the issue ended up resurfacing. Now, every few times I open NNW the column is gone. I have tried both the current stable and beta releases and both experience the problem. What can I do to fix this?

Could you send me a screenshot of what it looks like when it's missing? (It would help me figure out what's going on.)

Also -- what version of NetNewsWire are you using? The current released version is 3.1.3.

Would you email me (brents at newsgator dot com) a copy of your prefs file?

~/Library/Preferences/com.ranchero.NetNewsWire.plist

I'm having a similar issue that just started today. I'm going to jump the gun a bit and send a screenshot and the file you requested of the other person to your email address in hopes of helping out (or bugging you more depending.) :-)

Would you re-email me your prefs file? (And include the URL of this page so I know what it's about.) Thanks!

With this unsolved problem driving me crazy the past few months I decided to create a more elegant band-aide.

I created a .command file (named nnw.command which should open in Terminal and be executable) with the contents

defaults delete com.ranchero.NetNewsWire headlinesHTMLSplitViewVertical

Then, whenever NNW looses the center column I simply close it, double click the file, close the window that pops up, and restart NNW. Problem "fixed" in less than a second.

It is worth mentioning that since I've experienced this problem no column widths remain constant. They appear random each time NNW is restarted.
