Just signed up... never new about NewsGator. I thought that it would be a neat idea to be able to check my email with my rss reader. I signed up for news gator online, set up a public email feed. And tried to send email to it. But nothing has shown up on the feed for two days and was about to give up until I learned about this forum. I hope someone can help me understand what I need to do to make it work. I think that I have followed all the directions to a tee, but I have had no success.
Thanks y'all,
Josh Gulick

I am really still hoping that this issue will be addressed. Mailbucket.org seems to be down, and dodgit.com is also down. These are the only services that I have found that allow email to rss functionality. If your service actually works... has not so far, I will likely pay for it. However, I am not excited with the idea that I have to let someone know that it is not working.
Nor do I like the idea that I need to hunt through your forum to find out what the matter is... and then find nothing. If you are having problems, why not let us know?

There is no problem with email feeds on my end. Have you subscribed to the feed yet?
There is an orange XML button on the Email Feeds page. Just click that button and grab the feed URL from the browser that pops up. Then subscribe to the feed as you would any other. It should populate with the content you have already placed there.
Note: Our service is free. No need to worry about paying for it.

Thanks for your reply. It is sort of working. When I am at the browse page:
http://www.newsgator.com/ngs/subscriber/EmailFeeds.aspx
I can see my test feeds in the sidebar, though they look crazy with all of the repeated words (see below) in the title, and when I click on them in the sidebar, I can see my email on your site. However, when I click on the xml buttom in the feed list on the page, it shows just a crazy page with a bunch of repeated words:
"NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EM
NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EM"
This is from http://services.newsgator.com/ngws/svc/EMailRSS.aspx?fid=22333 which should have emails showing up there.
Can you help me understand what I need to do to get this working? I have the feeds set to public because I want to be able to look at them from within firefox using live bookmarks.
Thanks,
Josh G.

Well you are almost there. I meant for you to open that browser and simply grab the URL from the address bar. Don't bother reading that page. It is just a bunch of XML.
Take that URL and subscribe to it as you would any other feed. Then read the content of that feed in your newsreader of choice.

Sorry, I just got back from a trip. I have tried to read the feed with my reader. In fact, both feeds show emails when viewed via the web-interface, but the public feed is vacant of any data. It just shows:
NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMhttp://services.newsgator.com/ngws/NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMail feed NewsGator: EMCopyright (c) 2003-2008 NewsGator TechnologiesTue, 03 Jun 2008 03:28:24 GMT60
*note: just imagine that the xml tags are there... they do not display on the forum.
Note the repeats and the lack of data in the feed. This is why I am unable to read it in my reader, which rightly says that it is empty. This is the feed address: http://services.newsgator.com/ngws/svc/EMailRSS.aspx?fid=22333
The web-interface shows the three emails properly, though the feed title is repeated as in the feed's xml itself.
How can I/we/you fix this?

This looks like a bug on our end. I hadn't seen this problem before. I created Case 138128 and have submitted it to the Platform team for resolution. I'll respond again when I have more information.

I believe we have resolved this problem. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. The name should now appear correctly once new content is added to the email feed.
