As a old FeedDemon customer I was using NewsGator through it's Web Edition today, being away from home. Now I was wondering about the user interface, and tried the "Help" and "Knowledge Base". I must say, this is less than stellar:
- No FAQ or Help content about actual Reading UI, like:
- What are "Current Posts", what are "Older Posts"?
- Why don't I see read items in "Current Posts", although "Only unread items" isn't checked?
- Where are other sort options, "Sort By Date" looks like I can change the criteria. Instead it toggles ascending/descending. Other useful sorts would be "By Feed", "By title"
- Little Knowledge Base content, almost exclusively about Outlook Edition. Most content from January 2004.
- Support->Online Tutorial talks about the Outlook Edition, without even mentioning the term--as if it's the only product. I expected to find a tour of the Web Edition, since that is where I came from.
Building the services is one thing. But don't forget to explain yourself, especially for newbies like me.
