How do I allow Newsgator items to automatically download images?

I prefer to have all my RSS feeds in my Outlook 2003, but "right click here to download images" is really killing the joy and making me think of going back to google reader (something I really don't like to do)
Is there any way to have outlook allow downloading all images received via newsgator?
I tried adding sites to safe sites but even with that some sites use remote images, and some sites add images from other proxies, and they still end up getting blocked..

I tried to create rules, by saying if any post has any category, download images automatically, but there is no rule action including "download images" option..

i install the application (3.0.540) but it did nothing.there is nothing in my outlook.i'm using vista SP1(UAC deactivated) and kaspersky IS 2010 and office 2007 SP1(anything else needed?).here is the report.(i re-install and repair it too.)

Using Boolean characters in a smart feed search and having no results for more than 48 hours

I am getting no results in my smart feed searches that I set up over the past week. They are all under the "My Feeds" folder but they do sit in a subfolder and I'm curious if my smart feeds are being searched by everything under just that subfolder or under the "My Feeds" folder that holds probably 20 different subfolders.

Outlook 2007 - Previously Read Items Keep Getting Marked As Unread

Ever since installing Inbox v. 3.0 Build 526, I notice that when I mark a group of items as read and move on to the next feed, previous random items get marked as unread again. I always make sure to check the item to see if it has been updated but it has not. This is new behavior. I have been using Inbox for years and never experienced this. Can someone help? I am running Outlook 2007 on the 64-bit Windows 7 RC. Thanks.

Outlook 2010 Tech Preview 64 bit and NG Inbox

I just installed the tech preview version of Office 2010 64 bit and discovered, much to my dismay, that Newsgator Inbox doesn’t appear to be working with it. I uninstalled and reinstalled Newsgator Inbox 3.0 and see it in the listed Com add-ins, but it doesn’t show the location of the add-in.

Do you perhaps have a beta available that will work with Outlook 2010 64 bit? Fortunately, this is only a test box, but not having my favorite add-in working is still an issue.

NewsGator Inbox has stopped downloading feeds

Hi folks - my NewsGator Inbox has simply stopped downloading all of its feeds. I have multiple sources so I know it isn't just one location issue.

There are no error messages and I can't find any other information. It has just stopped.

Is there anything I can look for please?

I'm on WinXP Sp3; NewsGator Inbox 3.0 Build 526, Outlook 2003.

Delete Subscription Folders

There are extra folders displaying in my Manage Subscriptions and those are creating extra folders in my PST. There are no subscriptions attached to these folders and they are unnecessary. They are even duplicating. If I delete from the PST they recreate when updating the subscriptions. How do I remove these folders?

Double RSS entries

I am new to NewsGator Inbox. I have one issue regarding to double RSS entries. I subscribed RSS to this link http://www.tuoitre.com.vn/Tianyon/RssView.aspx, which is Vietnamese newspaper. When updating, it always double the entries, which is inconvenient to delete.

Subscribing using Omea Reader does not give this phenomenon. So, is there anyone who can help me to correct this issue? If the issue belongs to RSS feed site, I can help to deliver the report.

Inbox contacting Blogger?

Lately there's been a noticeable rendering delay when I click on an Inbox posting that came from a Blogger RSS feed. I know that Outlook is contacting a server at google.com because sometimes it gets so bad that Outlook puts up a progress dialog while it's waiting for a response. The problem is probably with Google's servers, because it just started recently, but I don't understand why their server needs to be contacted at all. Isn't the whole point of Inbox that the post is being downloaded? I could sort of understand it for posts that have images in them, but this happens even with plain text posts. (Actually, they're probably HTML, but what I mean is that they don't have any images.) Does anybody have any idea what's up with this and how to stop it? It's making it very time consuming to read my feeds.

Edited to add that the site in question is "blogger.googleusercontent.com".

Outlook 2003 Not Closing

Outlook 2003 on XP Pro (32-bit) SP3: Whenever I close outlook, it stays open in the task manager. This causes a problem when I want to shutdown the machine or sync with another computer. I have Xobni installed, but this issue only shows when I have the Newsgator inbox plugin installed.

Does anyone else have this issue or have ideas how to debug it?

Hi there

I'm a brand new user and getting frustrated. I can't load any feeds to Newsgator through Outlook...this is the error message I get:

"The OPML file supplied could not be loaded

Unable to cast COM object of type ‘System.__ComObject’ to interface type ‘Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.MAPIFolder’. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the intercace with IID ‘{00063006-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}’ failed due to the following error: Library not registered. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8002801D (TYPE_E_LIBNOTREGISTERED))."

I've already run 'repair and detect' in OUtlook and re-installed...same problem.

Outlook 2003 Inbox Plugin

I am having issues with setting up Newsgator for Inbox. I have Outlook 2003 SP3 installed, and NGInboxSetup_3.0.540.msi installed. The install completes as far as I can tell with a final finished button to click. There were no Outlook configurations requested, when I go to Tools>Options>Other Tab>Advance Options>COM Addins..

I see this dialog box.. Newsgator box was unchecked, lOCATION: MSCOREE.DLL, LOAD BEHAVIOR: Not loaded, A runtime error occured during the loading of the COM Add-in

I have removed the software, and installed twice with no difference. Any suggestions on completing the setup would be appreciated.

I have been using NewsGator for long time, including iphone, web and desktop edition.

Lately i have been using NewsGator Email Edition a lot. I read all the feeds in gmail and from last few days am getting lot of feeds as "unknown sender" But if i view same feeds in iphone's native mailbox i see proper feed name.

In NewsGator Email Edition Configuration;

Please let me know if i need to change the configuration in NewsGator or in Gmail.

Upgrade from NewsGator v2.5 to NewsGator Inbox v3.0

I had to reinstall my System with Windows XP SP3 and Outlook 2003 SP3. Although the previous configuration was the same spec, this was a clean install. The NewsGator v2.5 Client was writing to a 3GB Outlook .pst File called NewsGator.pst and had an .opml file with over 400 Feeds and a lot of custom folder names.

Well, you know how the Application has changed, and the first thing it didn't like when I pointed to the NewsGator.pst was that I didn't have -- My News and --My Clippings Base Folders, and well, I was able to get around not having the -- My News Folder, but I seem to still be stuck with the newly created NewsGator Inbox.pst File for the -- My Clippings Base Folder (whatever "Clippings" are supposed to be).

When I imported my .opml File, my Custom Folder Names were ignored on the "Update All Subscriptions," which is pretty much your worst nightmare when you have a million messages in 500 Folders, and 300 new Folders get Created.

Every attempt to redirect the v3.0 Subscriptions to Folders that I want them to go to results in them being written to the Base Parent Folder, and there is nothing I can do about anything.

At this point, I believe that my NewsGator.pst File is corrupt as Newsgator Inbox can't create a new Folder in the pst if I add a new Feed.

Also, at this point, it's so messed up, I would Uninstall NewsGator Inbox v3.0 and would go back to Sundays backup NewsGator.pst file with a reinstall of v2.5 if that would work rather than trying to fix this mess.

So, I did find the available Downloads for v2.6, and I need an Install/Upgrade path that circumvents these problems.

Any ideas would be helpful...And, is there a Manual for v3.0?

HELP! - Installed NG for Blackberry/Java on Windows Mobile 6 device - How to uninstall?

Hi All,
This might be a unique situation. I installed Newsgator for the first time on my Win Mobile 6 device today (LG Incite/ CT810). When I went to the website (on my mobile device) - "http://m.newsgator.com/d", I was asked to create an account. Upon creating the account a link of "Go! for Java & Blackberry" was provided. I was confused since I had Win Mobile 6 device and did not understand why this link was provided. So I closed the browser and re-launched and tried again - same thing. So, I clicked on that link and what happened after that was a mess!
The Java mobile application came up and it asked me for a location to install. I chose external storage card. Then it gave me a message of installation being complete and whether I wanted to launch the application. I said yes and it launched. But soon, my device froze! I was able to restart the device by pressing on to the power button ( I did NOT need to take out the battery). But, upon re-start I could not locate any link for Newsgator anywhere on the phone - not under Programs; not under "Java", nowhere! In addition - my storage card was filled with weirdly named folders and files (please see image below)

And there are two files which are more than 4GB and 1GB respectively!!! The most frustrating part is -[b] I cannot delete these files. [/b] I cannot find a way to uninstall Newsgator because it does not show up anywhere on my device.
So, later this evening and I went to the download link again. This time, it correctly showed me "Go! for Pocket PC", which I installed and Newsgator is fine.
My problem is - how do I uninstall the Java version? This is a mess! Can anybody please help?? :crying:

Newspage Display Question

Hi,

I have been using Inbox for a long time, and using the newgator online product since the syncronisation came in.

I have also tried feed demon which is nice but I like to keep everything within outlook.

My question is can the Inbox newspage be set to group unread posts by feed in the same way that Online and feed demon do? there are some feeds that I skim through and others that I pay closer attention to and it's useful to know which section I am looking at rather than the mixed view as now. If there is a way to do it I haven't found it yet.

Newsgator Inbox 3.0.540 & Outlook 2007 Crashes

Following installing newsgator inbox 3.0.526 from the web download, setting in up and using it sucessfully i noticed that outlook started crashing randomly. On visiting and reading through the forum i found that there was an update to 3.0.540. I downloaded and installed this update and continued using newsgator inbox. However the crashing hasn't gone away.

I noticed during the last outlook crash, that it occurred shortly after i had clicked on the --My News folder. Outlook just crashed out with no error messages. Previously i had been getting the send error report to microsoft dialog and outlook restarted.

I found the newsgator.log on the C drive and am including it here in the hope that is might help this situation.

The previous crashes i experienced usually occurred whilst i was away from the computer, i think during this time outlook was minimised with the --My News folder being shown. Unfortunately i don't have any log for this situation.

Inbox updates fail...or do they?

Using Outlook 2007 I receive the following error message for all my feeds. The feeds DO seem to update, however.

Unable to cast COM object of type 'System.__ComObject' to interface type 'System.Runtime.InteropServices.UCOMIConnectionPoint'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{B196B286-BAB4-101A-B69C-00AA00341D07}' failed due to the following error: No such interface supported (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE)).

Anyone have an idea as to what this might be about?

Auto download - RTF attachments

I am a longtime user and in dire need of help.

There is a rss feed which has rft files as links.

I need that newgator for outlook will automatically download the files, as attachments to the posts (empty posts, but still), so that for every post i'll have the RTF file attached as attachment to the post.

It's very important for me - is there anyway i can do that?

i think it worked in earlier versions, (it downloaded the file as the post) but now it tries and give me this error:

"Content type is not text/html - 'application/rtf' was returned by the server"

i'd really thank anyone that'll help me

Feed folder is ignored

I used to be able to select an Outlook folder for my RSS feeds to go into -- and this still works for my old RSS feeds -- but if I add a new feed with Newsgator Inbox, it always goes into the "angle bracket auto angle bracket" folder.

This happens even if I specify a folder in the Add Feed wizard.

The Manage Subscriptions dialog shows "angle bracket auto angle bracket" for any new feeds I add (even if I specify a folder).

There doesn't seem to be any way to change the folder of an existing Subscription.

I'm using NewsGator Inbox 3 build 526 in Outlook 2002.

Installation Issues with Outlook 2007

I am very new to this forum having arrived here via NetNewsNow on my iPhone, which I think is fantastic. Anyway I decided to install Newsgator Inbox for my Outlook 2007 and find I am having problems in that Newsgator Inbox does not show up anywhere within Outlook 2007 after it has been installed.

I have read through the forum and notice that a number of people are having this issue. So I have tried all or any of the remedies which have been put forward, to no avail.

My question is I have noticed that all of these topics on the forum seem to end without a resolution and I was wondering if these people had found their own solutions or had just given up, which is something I don't want to do.

I notice with me and with all of the other threads on the same topic it boils down to the Newsgator Indox Profile Manager not finding any profiles, but there is no option to browse for profiles. Is it possible to force this program to search for alternative profiles?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

My NewsGator plugin for Outlook seems to have broken another Outlook plugin I have. I've uninstalled NewsGator, then uninstalled and reinstalled the other plugin, but it still doesn't work. Any ideas on what might be the problem?

(I really hammered the title of this post, didn't I. :D It was supposed to say, "NewsGator plugin for Outlook causes other Outlook plugin to break.")

Posts going into wrong folder

I've been having an issue adding new subscriptions for a while now. I can't seem to add from "subscribe in newsgator inbox" in IE; I get a resource not found error (and I believe that Nick is aware of this problem).

I'm also having a problem where it seems that when I add a new subscription directly in NGI it renames an existing folder and starts adding the new feed there. So then I try to delete and re-add the old one and the problem just gets worse and worse from there.

Any thoughts? Any logs I should be looking at?

Downloaded posts don't appear, although everything else looks OK

NewsGator Inbox downloads multiple posts -- I see a message indicating this -- but no posts appear in the folders or on the My News page.

Installation with Outlook 2007 on our corporate network worked fine. All the folders were created and there doesn't appear to be a connection problem. Sync occurs on schedule and reports that unread posts have been downloaded. They just don't show up anywhere!

I like this tool (works fine at home) and I hope that there's a simple answer. Thank you,

Cannot add connectnews.microsoft.com NNTP newsgroup to NewsGator Inbox

I have Outlook 2007 connected to Microsoft BPOS Online Exchange. I installed Newsgator Inbox and my RSS feeds and news.microsoft.com come in fine. When I select Add Connection, Advanced Options and add NNTP I get the NNTP Server Information page. When I fill in connectnews.microsoft.com my username and password I get an error message "Could not download any newsgroups from this server." I have tried several times with the same result. I have added the same newsgroup to Microsoft Live Mail using the same information and it works fine.

The one thing that might be throwing things off is that I have a "-" minus sign in my password. It is a valid password special character but maybe your form is actually doing something to prevent SQL Injection or some other validation that might be throwing out minus signs?

Double Posts with Newsgator for Outlook

I am new to Newsgator, and I am using the Outlook connector with Windows Vista and Outlook 2003. On some of my feeds, I consistently get double posts, no matter what I try. Why is this happening? I have deleted and re-added the same blogs, only to have the same results. It's not all of my blogs--only a few. One example is www.casasugar.com, and another is www.shefinds.com. These blog authors post a lot, and with this double post thing, it gets really annoying. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

NGI & customizing IPM.Post form

Hi, I hope that you can help me.

I want to add some custom fields on top of NGI's custom fields (e.g. "Feed Name", "Publish Date") for posts that I am receiving and parsing (e.g. salary info from job advert feeds).

However, I notice that the IPM.Post form that NGI uses is different to the Outlook default form in the "Standard Forms Library". I have looked in all the other library/folder locations too but can't find the form that matches that used by NGI.

So I presume that NGI "hijacks" the standard IPM.Post form using an NGI dll somewhere because, even if I change the Outlook post folder's property (right-click on folder and select "Properties") "When posting to this folder, use:" form field to my custom form, new posts that arrive are still using NGI's IPM.Post message class form.

So I'm a new user to Newsgator in general, and newsgator Inbox in particular. I setup one feed in Newsgator Inbox, read and deleted items. I then hit synchronize, and it brought back all the posts I had deleted! What did I do wrong?? TIA!

Newsgator Inbox for Outlook don't mark read post

When I look to my feeds on Outlook I found all post unread, also that I have already read online, with iPhone or other device. The sync option is flagged but it is not sync with Newsgator Online.

How can I solve it? Regards Daniele

I have a news feed that I have in two places:

http://www.renishaw.com/client/resource_rss/renishaw_com_UKEnglish.rss
http://www.renishaw.com/en/renishaw_com_UKEnglish.rss

They are identical, but Newsgator Inbox can read the first one but not the second one. Does anybody have a tool that can trace whats happening here? I've looked at the HTTP headers and they both look fine to me.

NewsGator 3.x won't work in Outllok 2007 and cannot activate 2.6 that works

Installed 2.6 and everything seemed to work except the fact that i cannot activate it. It says that there is no license linked to my Newsgator account. I cannot make versions 3.x work as they do not find any outlook profiles.

Any suggestions?

After the install and launching Outlook 2007 is see a dialog box that states "An error has occurred: OnConnection"

Then another box that says "***RESOURCE NOT FOUND***"

I checked the NewsGator Inbox Profile Manager and the app runs but does not display any profiles.

Ideas?
