I have not made any (known) changes to my setup, but I don't have control over our proxy.

My set-up is relatively new and I have had downloads of various feeds from the first installation but I don't think I have had any updates, except when I did a resynchronise in an attempt to update my RSS feeds.

Thanks
David

RE: Exception in RetrieveNews error?

@David -

Are you synchronizing with NewsGator Online? My guess of what's happening is that you have a Proxy server that's returning an HTML webpage with Inbox is trying to connect to services.newsgator.com.

In NewsGator Inbox > Options, go to the Connection tab and try running the connection tester to make sure Inbox can make a proper connection.

RE: Exception in RetrieveNews error?

Hi Dave,

I'd love to help but I eventually bypassed the problem by joining Newsgator Online and waiting until I can spend some money updating my software, although it doesn't seem you're having much more luck in Outlook 2007. Maybe we should both buy Vista...

Bonne chance,

Dr_Whom.

RE: Exception in RetrieveNews error?

I have a similar, although different, problem.

When I try to update all subscriptions (or resynchronise), I get a error panel:

Exception in RetrieveNews:
Response is not well-formed XML.
at NewsGatorInbox.NewsProcessor.ExamineConnectionError(Exception ex)
at NewsGatorInbox.NewsProcessor.RetrieveNews()

with an OK button - clicking OK does not cause my subscriptions to be updated.

I have tried rebooting and checking my Outlook OST file and checking my NewsGatorInput.pst (all no effect). When I check my NewsGatorInbox connection (which uses Outlook proxy settings), the check succeeds.

I'm using Windows XP SP2 running Outlook 2007 SP1 with NewsGator Inbox version 3.0 build 526.

Thanks
David

RE: Exception in RetrieveNews error?

Thought a scan might be quicker than writing out the whole error message. Whenever I try and update my subscriptions I'm still getting the same message (see first post).

Does anyone out there speak MS code who might be able to help?

Many thanks in advance.

Dr_Whom

RE: Exception in RetrieveNews error?

Heh, and if someone had been stupid enough to lose their Office XP disk. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{00063001-0000-0000-C000-00000000046}' failed due to the following error: Error loading type library/DLL. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80029C4A (TYPE_E_CANTLOADLIBRARY)).

I might have overtype on some of those 0s mind you.

I'm running this on Microsoft Outlook 2002 SP3 (where does the time go) on a VAIO laptop with XP Home SP2.

I would really appreciate any help anyone could give so that I can join in with the wonderful world of RSS, finally.

Best wishes,

Dr_Whom.
