I bought TS 3.5 (I think), and a file downloaded called tspro.1.2D0D17. I can't open it in any app I've got. Suggestions?

Can't save files after 3.5 upgrade?

After upgrading to 3.5 I can no longer save my files after editing them!

I get the message, "This file is in use by another program." and two buttons, "cancel" or "retry". The problem is, NO PROGRAM IS USING THE FILE! So it never gets freed up so I can save it!

It pisses me off that I need to open the file in TEXTPAD to be able to save it. Very annoying as you can tell by my ALLCAPS rant.

Please explain why, what I need to do, or how I can revert to an older version (THAT WORKS!).

Hi, I am evaluating TopStyle Editor (on XP SP3). I have detach the output windows and it is always staying over the main window. Is there a way to bring it behind the main window?

Or wehre can I set the docking style?

A remark: if there were an integrated FTP transfer, it would be for me the perfect tool...

I've just purchased TSPro 3.5.0.10, but now that I have a valid serial number there doesn't appear to be a place in the GUI to input it [smacks forehead],

I looked under the Help menu and nada.

I uninstalled TS, found a place on Newsgator to "upgrade" - here I entered my serial number - and promptly downloaded the so-caled upgrade which turned out to be v 3.5.0.9 (one release before the actual trial version, see above).

And now I see a new TopStyle is on the way - version 4 - which will require a further $30 to obtain when it becomes available later this year.

I feel I made the wrong decision. I was about to purchase HomeSite but chose TS instead. Crap.

Have I wasted nearly $80 on this or what? I have 20 days left to enjoy a program that won't allow me to enter and register as a bona-fida legit user [smacks forehead again]

Any help from this forum will be appreciated. Until then I remain miffed and disgruntled with Newsgator; if they can't support products then remove the option to purchase it from the site.

Transfer Top Style Pro from old to new computer

I've received an email reply to my request on how to take my purchased and downloaded Top Style Pro from my old computer to my new one, that said to go to this URL to make my request: You should be able to request a new download from here:

That URL is to a page to input ONLY my email address for a free upgraded version, and in the reply email to it reads: In order to retain your existing settings, simply install this version on top of your current version.

I don't have my current version on this new computer in order to download an upgraded on top of it! Plus, it doesn't resolved the 30 CSS style sheets I have stored in my current Top Style on my old computer issue - how to get them over to the new computer also.

In my 1st request I said I downloaded Top Style Pro after paying for it, and I also do not have my original registration code, but I supplied enough information that it should be easy to find because I purchased it roughly 6-9 months ago.

At a minimum I need my original Top Style Pro and registration code to re-download it again before I can upgrade free or otherwise. The files I can see if I can burn to a disc to install on the new PC once I have TSP on it.

But I tried 10 times to register to newsgator, I was in firefox at the time and the message kept saying "invalid verification code"

I switched to safari and it was accepted

I've just bought your product TopStyle Pro.

After downloading the tspro.exe, here is the error message I get each time I want to run it :

"tspro.exe is not a valid Win32 application."

I use top style Per and have a small problem. It is about the following I want to edit the file CSS Template of a Joomla template. I test the whole one on a Xamp environment
The edit of the Css File in the online environment of Joomla works well
The file in my directory changes by every update.
If I open the file with an editor I see the change
But if i open the File with Topstyle is cant see the Changes at all.
I mean i just see the File just like i first open it with Topstyle can someone help me

I'm wondering about selector order. In Topstyle Pro 3.509, it only puts the body tag at the top, in one of those three choices, but I thought it was SUPPOSED to be at the top always?

_tstmp. Temporary file error

For some reason when ever I open a file I get the error message:

The file "_ts3tmp.php" is a temporary file used by TopStyle. It cannot be opened in TopStyle.

I have tried closing ts, delete the file, open from desktop, ts, ts tree and many other things but it won't go away.

Any help would be very appreciated..

To get new releases of TopStyle is required to give the email address. Since I'm going t get a new one, how to change it in the NewsGator database in order to get the future releases of the software?

My trial period of TopStyle 3.5 is almost over. I love it as a CSS editor, but cannot use it for xhtml due to lack of utf8 support. This means I'll be buying TopStyle 4 as soon as it is released. However, I hesitate whether to buy the cuirrent version, since I could not find a statement of upgrade policy. If I buy version 3.5 now, how much will it cost me to upgrade to 4.0?

TopStyle Not Working With Struts

Prior to a recent NewsGator upgrade articles were marked as read no longer appeared in the feed. Now they change to gray. How can the previously read articles be removed? Is it possible to remove some and not all?

i downloaded the demo version and i liked it but the only problem for me that Arabic when i wrote it in the editor it appears like this

Is it possible, when you click on an element in the preview pane to have the css rules pane jump to the css that applies to that element? Is there an option or something that i have overlooked?

Adding an anchor linking to a jpg

I'm a TopStyle newbie who doesn't understand how to do some simple things :) Perhaps I've missed something in the documentation but I didn't find anything describing how to work with anchors.

My site uses many anchors that display pictures. I tried to drag and drop the file name from File Explorer but this produces an (img) rather than an (a). If I drag an HTML file it produces an (a) so TS knows how to do what I want, I just don't know how to tell it to make an anchor for a jpg easily.

I can do it by entering (a) and clicking through the drop down menu but this brings up a window that doesn't remember that I want all files and reverts to CSS+HTML -- a lot of clicking and mousing for such a common operation.

Right clicking on a jpg in File Explorer brings up a nice menu and choosing "Link to" inserts an (img) [or an (a) for an HTML file]. What would be helpful is to have an additional item [Anchor] in that menu to allow forcing (a) rather than having TS make an automatic choice.

Database fails to upgrade on install

Hey all -

I'm hoping somebody out there can help - been waiting for a call back from tech support but haven't received one yet, hope they aren't too insanely busy!

So here's the deal. I have a Newsgator server in NY running a down level version of the software - we are upgrading to new hardware, the new Newsgator and SQL 2005 at a location in Colorado. I backed up the current database and copied it Colorado, restored it to the new SQL database and that seemed all fine. So I then go to do the install and it wants to upgrade the database version 1.4.2.185 to 3.0.0.679, but it fails with the following:

Problem creating procedures: ambiguous column name 'CreateDate'. Ambiguous column name 'GroupID'

So I'm stuck - anybody out there have a solution?

File Download - Security Warning when opening files within TopStyle

I am using TopStyle 3.5 as the External CSS Editor for Dreamweaver. When I open any CSS file within TopStyle, I get a popup window that says “File Download – Security Warning” “Open, Save or Cancel?” for a filed called _ts3tmp.asp, after clicking open, the file is opened in Dreamweaver. I can see by the contents that it is a copy of a webpage I was working on. It does not matter which CSS file I open the same popup appears and the same contents can be seen in Dreamweaver. Each time I click the save file icon within TopStyle, the message pops up again.

How can I get rid of this popup message?

iPhone 3G: Feeds aren't visible/appearing

I have the following problem:
- I have added my feeds over NewsGator Online
- Then synced with NetNewsWire (Mac). That all worked fine.
- Then installed the NetNewsWire on the iPhone, added my account, but it doesn't work! There is the information, that the feeds are synced, but no one feed is appearing on the iPhone Display! And in NewsGator Online my iPhone is listed as location...

What is wrong? Is that a bug or my mistake?

2. If the only way to try 3.5 is to purchase it, what is the refund policy if it turns out the program is not really for me?

Brace position after "Style Sweeper" operation

I'm using the multiline mode of Style Sweeper. When you use the feature, it creates style blocks where the opening brace is on the same line as the style declaration. Is there any way to force the opening brace to start on the next line?

Alt + Tab annoyance

I'm not sure if this has come up before, but I use the Alt+Tab shortcut to switch between my running applications in windows XP. I've noticed that when I am on Topstyle the alt+tab will often fail unless I do it very slowly. It's weird, because the next window gets selected in the taskbar, but it doesn't show up in front of topstyle (although the topstyle title bar grays out as if it has lost focus).

I like to preview my html changes in my own browser so I use this al+tab shortcut a LOT, so this is absolutely killing me.:w00t:

Integration of Total Validator ?

My system (Win2K) crashed the other day with many applications and documents open, including TopStyle (3.5.09) and Dreamweaver (MX 2004).

Since restarting the system, I am continuously confronted by this message...

"This document has been modified since you last saved it. Save anyway?"

... nearly EVERY time I save the Topstyle file.

More specifically, it seems that any time I return to Topstyle from DW (i.e., toggle from one app to the other), the message will appear the next time I try to save the CSS file in Topstyle.

I've encountered this message in the past, but never with such persistence and frequency.

Has anyone encountered and successfully solved this problem?

I thought I checked and unchecked all the right boxes in both Topstyle and DW, but prolly not.

Any guidance would be appreciated. Is there anything I can do within TopStyle to stop this? (I do understand this might be more of a DW question than a TopStyle question...)

Note: I tried to delete TopStyle from the DW File Types / Editors dialog for .css files, but when I reopen DW, it's there again. I even deleted .css files from the left side of the dialog entirely, but associations reverted to TopStyle as the primary editor for .css files upon restarting DW. I _was_ able to set NOTEPAD as the main editor for .css files in the DW dialog, but it didn't help (nor did I really expect it to).

NNW and newsgator.com syncing

I've had SERIOUS problems with NNW not keeping up with what I have marked as read on newsgator.com's web-based reader. It doesn't matter how long I wait, or how many times I hit refresh, the feeds will NEVER gets marked as read.

Is this a normal problem that a lot of people experience? I've gotten to the point of just using the web version now, and as such, I might be jumping ship to google reader soon.

Open/Save Dialog for temp files

All of a sudden .... I get these (see screenshot) coming up after almost every/any keystroke. Why? How can I stop this madness!?!?! ;) I don't want to save it, I don't want to open it ... I don't want to see it. I'm not sure why it's suddenly become active.

...100% more then what you're charging for TopStyle now if I could just save in UTF-8! Please make it so! And, yes, I know this has been asked a bizillion times now. I just can not find an editor I like as much as TopStyle and converting thousands of files a year to UTF-8 as I publish pages on the net is getting tedious and tiresome. For the love of.......... please make it happen! :angry:

Copy to clipboard shortcut key fails to work after selecting text with keyboard

If I select some text (usually, using the keyboard) and then press Control+C to copy selected text to the clipboard, sometimes it doesn't work.

Control+V (paste) in this scenario also does not seem to do anything.

Any ideas?

I would like to move some items out of the resource tab in the view bar and into a custom tab. Can't appear to drag and drop from one to the other, so I was wondering where this info is kept (I assume it is in a file somewhere), so that I can edit the code of the file. I don't really want to delete and recreate each item that I need to move.

Using TopStyle for MVC application with URL rewriting

I am considering using TopStyle to develop XHTML/CSS for a PHP MVC application that uses Smarty template views, URL rewriting, and dynamic/static content sepration. There is no single "root folder", but files are in various locations in my project. Also, templates can include other temples, and tags are generated by template macros and don't appear verbatim in the markup. All this should in theory be no obstacle for TopStyle to function properly, yet I can not configure Topstyle to behave the way I want to work in this environment. What I need is the following behavior:

1) Map an arbitrary HTML (template) source file to an arbitrary URL, e.g.
X:\Dev\www\application\views\pages\main_home.tpl => http://localhost/
X:\Dev\www\application\views\pages\main_search.tpl => http://localhost/s1?q=ipod
X:\Dev\www\application\views\pages\auth_signin.tpl => http://localhost/l
etc.
Though this seems trivial, it's apparently not possible. It would even help if I could just force the browser to always show a single fixed URL, but even that seems not to be possible, it apparently must always use the smartypants mapping. Is there a solution to this?

2) When I hit refresh (F5), I want my source file to be saved and the embedded browser preview to reload, or, even better, do this as I type, so I can immediately see the effect. Again I cannot configure this, need to manually save, then hit refresh it seems -> tedious.

3) Can I just tell TopStyle a list of folders/files where to look for CSS (like DreamWeaver "Design Time")? My CSS files are located in X:\Dev\www\htdocs-static\css and some other folders, and the tags are generated by template macros, so they cannot simply be automagically parsed out of my HTML.

4) Can I tell TopStyle to run the W3C validation on the HTML/CSS that comes back from the server (localhost), not my source template?
