I then had FS scheduled to download the podcasts overnight rather than right away. It would get the podcasts and automatically create a WMP playlist. My MP3 player would then sync with WMP, and all I had to do was grab my MP3 player and I had a day's worth of podcasts to listen to.

(I had a Windows Script set up to clear out the previous day's podcasts that would run at 2am and FS was then scheduled to start after 3am)

So you can certainly do what you want - you just have to use FD rather than NewsGator (and FD will sync with NewsGator, so the feed itself will be synched)

RE: Fails to connect to My Podcasts

I too found that I had to create a "My Podcasts" folder, but I read in a post here that I had to do so in the "My Clippings". Folder. After fighting with it a while, I realized you can't add a podcast subscription directly to the folder. I did find that you could drag the podcast attachments over to this "My Podcasts" folder, and feedstation will then grab it.

I may be missing something here, but I was hoping there was a way to automate this? Basically, I have a player I like much better than the ipod counterpart. My main goal is to get some way to automate downloading and syncing of pocasts to the player via Windows Media Player. Unfortunately, the crappy software included does not do the job. I will admit that iTunes does a great job of this task, but it's bloatware, and I prefer this player to an iPod anyway. This was so close! Am I missing something?
critter42 (2/5/2008)

Jack Vinson (2/4/2008)
Seriously? I have to create a My Podcasts folder. Why doesn't FS do that automagically? I've created it and FS has stopped complaining.
You have to remember that FeedStation was initially written to be an exclusive podcatcher for FeedDemon before Bradsoft was purchased by NewsGator, and the sync capability was essentially tacked on to FeedStation at that point. I don't remember the exact details any more, but IIRC, it also had something to do with being able to sync NG's Clippings and FD's News Bins (which became clippings to make naming consistent across products). In any event the upshot was that in order to let FS download podcasts from NGO, the folder had to be created manually in NGO.
But I think the synchronization with NGOL is crummy, and FD decided that all those articles were new again.

As a result, FS wanted to pop up the application window to show me the full queue for hundreds of old podcasts. Also, note the error below in the Error log of FeedStation.

Second problem: Related to #1 - All downloads fail. "Failed - click to restart" and I have no idea which ones are failing, as there is no useful information provided in the list.
I'm not sure what you mean by "I have no idea which ones are failing" - like you noted above, it says "failed" next to each one that failed. If you click on the failed item, the direct url of the enclosure is listed in the bottom status bar of FeedStation. Can you elaborate on this point?
Third problem: It is incredibly intrusive. Just do your thing.
