RSS feed for clippings folder not sharing

I have a clippings sub-folder for which the "Make the RSS feed for this folder public" is checked. I copied the RSS feed into my Google Reader account and everything worked just fine.

Unfortunately, this feed is not updating at all. I have added several news items to this clippings sub-folder and, several hours later, nothing.

I assumed that placing news items into this clippings sub-folder in NNW would sync with NewsGator Online (it has), and further assumed that this folder's feed would be updated and read by Google Reader (it has not).

Any help here?

Feed URLs mixed up

I just noticed that two of my feeds were mixed up. My subscription for the Fastmail Weblog points to the feed and my subscription for the Fastmail Status blog also points to .
I have no idea if this is a Newsgator problem or a Fastmail problem.

Feeds not updating

Hi, I recently noticed that some of my feeds do not get any new items.

One of them is http://community.sharpdevelop.net/forums/rss.aspx?ForumID=23&Mode=0. The last item I got from that feed is from 12/6/2005 4:31:37 PM but if I look at the feed directly there have been numerous new items since then. I ran the feed through a feed validator and it came up as valid. Is it some newsgator server issue or do I need to do something to fix it?

Outages like the one that affected NewsGator Online today are unacceptable in and of themselves, but even moreso when paying customers have no way to determine the issue's severity, scope, and expected time to resolution.

NewsGator, like most serious online service providers, should have a page on its support site to update its users of the status of outages, both planned and unplanned.

NewsGator should also publish minimum service level commitments (e.g. 99% monthly uptime) and announce a compensation scheme when those commitments are not met (e.g. Business-level subscribers receive a 1 month service credit or equivalent refund).

Feed RSS "Misredirection"

My demonoid feed is not updating. I already checked the site and it is working on IE's RSS... I found something weird, when I click settings->myfeed then click the html button on demonoid it is correct but then when I click the rss button it shows this address:

http://www.subdemon.com/down.html/rss/0.xml

but I explicitly added this:

http://www.demonoid.com/rss/0.xml

it keeps on returning to that address(top) whenever I try to add demonoid...

Feeds not feeding...

None of my feeds have updated for a couple of hours (using Newsgator online).

Each of the feeds that I would normally expect to update during this period shows "Error from the source of the feed" when I look at Settings - My Feeds.

Any ideas how to get things flowing again?

Increasing Text Size of Webpages Viewed

Hi All---

I'm on a lapto with a high native resolution, and my eyes are pretty bad.

SO, when I'm on the web, I just use the handy ctrl+ to increase the Text Size. However, when I go to read my articles in feedgator, I can't increase the size! There has to be a way, right?

Customizing feed display font

Hi. I was hoping someone might be able to give me a quick and simple answer as to how I change the font colour of my feed's title?

I am working on a new site located currently at http://opffa.s451.sureserver.com/enter.php. If you scroll near the bottom of the page and look at the left side you will see the feed displayed under the title, "Canadian Fire Fighting News Headlines".

The title currently appears in a white font and also disappears when it is moused over. I would like it to appear in the red font #7E0000 and stay as is when moused over.

I have been able to do a couple of customizations already uder the "Settings>Edit Locations>Headlines" section of NewsGator, such as changing the font face and size, as well as having the individual stories open in a new window rather than in the parent window...but I can't seem to get this one figured out.

My Headline Settings currently look like this:

<a href='$link$' target="_blank">$title$</a> $description$ $datetime$ [$feedname$]

Any help with this would be most appreciated.

Clipping synchronization bug between FD & NNW

After playing around with subfolders in NetNewsWire and FeedDemon (and creating a real mess) I've gone back to folders at a top level only, since then I have had one folder that can not be removed.

I've tried deleting it in both FeedDemon and NetNewsWire but after each sync the folder reappears, I've tried deleting it through the web interface, I can select the folder using the tick box, hit delete but when the page refreshes the folder is still there. I've also renamed it a couple of times and tried to delete it afterwards, the renames sync up without issue throughout the clients but delete simply does not work.

Any idea how I can get rid of this folder?

I don't know about you guys, but I usually have several RSS feeds on the same topic (like sports), sometime delivering the same information (like football scores). It sometimes results in a lot of duplicated threads that I don't need to read.

Could it be possible to have some kind of "mark similar article as read" button?

Hello,
I love the Feed Demon for Windows, except I can't find an answer to this question.

If I view a blog on the Feed Demon, does it register as a hit for the owner? I'm trying to blog about this on a friend's blog and if all her page views/hits decrease b/c I recommend Feed Demon, she's not going to be too happy!

Also, I posted something on my blog 60 mins. ago and it's not showing up when I syncronize. Should I expect it to be immediate or how long from time of posting?

"mark post as read" taking f o r e v e r

Hey,

I'm using IE7 on XP. Marking individual posts as read by clicking "Mark Post as Read" is taking 25-30 seconds to complete. I used to think marking the first post in a session took a long time but subsequent ones got faster somehow. No so now.

Almost all feeds have "error from source of feed" status

I have used NewsGator Online for a couple of years without a single hitch. Love it!

However, in the last couple of days, out of 81 feeds, almost 95% of them have this note: Error from source of feed.

I have refreshed several times, and though it initially clears the errors, when I close the program, and then re-enter, it's there again. This is getting somewhat tiresome, plus I'm not getting the feeds. What do I need to do to fix this permanently?

Duplicate Stoires

I've seen this behavior in both NewsGator Online and in NetNewsWire. When I sync with feeds from the Raleigh News Observer ( http://www.newsobserver.com/front/index.xml , for example) I get numerous duplicate stories. Sometime the duplicate is paired with the original, sometimes they're separated by a number of other stories, but regardless there are multiple copies of the same stories over and over.

When I look at that feed through FireFox's news reader I don't see that same behavior.

Any ideas?

Several feeds not updating

All of these are reachable (via NNW, web browser) right now, but for some reason NGO cannot refresh them ("Error from the source of the feed"). I haven't noticed some of these for weeks, until I turned off syncing in NetNewsWire and checked them out at the website.

Feature request - auto expand folders, new post logo

Hi,
I love the new beta reader. I have two requests, which are standard in the Thunderbird reader.

1. Every time I look at my list of feeds, I have to expand my folders (and I have a lot). An option to auto-expand or save the last settings would be great.

2. Also, if there's a new post ever since the last time I logged in, it would be nice to have an indicative icon on the side (like a star). Right now, I can only see if there are unread posts, but they could have been sitting there for months.

The Tabletop Gaming News feed is not updating in NGO or FeedDemon (although is does update for Firefox and Google Reader). The feed is showing the following error in NGO - Error from the source of the feed. The feed source is: http://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/feed/atom. The last date that NGO shows is 4/5.

Broken formatting with new NG Online version

Sometime in the last few days, it looks like there was an update to NewsGator Online's engine. Since then, when I display all feeds in Firefox 2, I'm seeing problems with text formatting, like a missing div. The end result it that about five feeds down the page, all the text on the feeds is shown as centered, instead of the correct justification. Is anyone else seeing this?

Problem when displaying video?

Has anyone else noticed that, when moving through articles with the space or arrow keys, if video content appears in the browser pane, it gets stuck? Even though I can still move the cursor around articles, the browser pane does not update to show the corresponding page. Mouse clicking on any other article unsticks things...

Need more descriptive error messages

While I like the new feature that shows if a feed is errored and to try to re-ping it, it would make it a LOT more helpful to include the actual error the feed is experiencing.

"Error at source of feed" is just not very helpful and doesn't help us troubleshoot one whit - that's more like something Microsoft does with its less-than-useful class of error messages. Or at least if you want to hide the bulk of the issues from the less-advanced user, enable a "verbose" mode for those of us that know what we're doing (or at least think we do :w00t: ).

It's more helpful to me to know if we're getting an http 500, if the feed is bad/corrupt, if it's been "jailed" by the platform, etc.

I've got several feeds that were working a couple of days ago that aren't now - but I'd like to know if that's because the feed URL may have changed w/out a proper redirect, if the feed is still there but errored, etc. and not have to post here with all the URLs and make you do work that may not need to be done.

All feeds disappeared after synchronization

Hello!

I'm very new to Newsgator/FeedDemon. It is truly a fantastic product!

However, today I have a problem. It is not a drama but after I yesterday synchronized all my feeds that I've created with Newsgator online and they all showed up properly in my FeedDemon at home, today ALL of my feeds in Newsgator online are gone. There is not one single feed!

Maybe there is a checkbox for this as I said I'm very new to this.

This is not a tragedy but I would like to know how to handle this in the future.

Synchronisation

I only used to use NewsGator on line, and everything was fine. Now I have started using it online, at work and at home. However, they all seem to look very different. Surely there must be a way of synchronising all 3?

Online uses in IE7, and home uses Outlook 2003 and work uses Outlook 2007. I must be missing something really basic. Please help!

Hi all,
I've been reading my rss articles via email edition and gmail (since gmail can download external emails via pop3) ever since it became free, and it rocks! a set of filters have set me up with a really nice portable email/rss combined solution which I really enjoy.

A problem has cropped up, though, with some rss emails being marked by gmail as spam. The problem, I think is that the messages from newsgator come with only the name of the feed in the From: field, no email address. As far as I know the only way to keep gmail from marking something as spam is by putting the senders email address in your contacts list, and as far as I can see, this is impossible. I still want the display name in the From: field to be the name of the feed, but maybe there is some way to add a From: address? It won't solve this problem to have the From: address match the To: address, as that also flags messages as spam.

I worry that this problem won't really be solved without big changes by either Newsgator or GMail, but I'd love it if anybody had any suggestions or fixes!

Links in feeds not opening in new window?

Newsgator used to open links from a post in a new window or tab. Now it's opening them in the right hand pane of my feeds window, which is very annoying, and hard to backtrack from. What happened to this feature? It does not seem to be mentioned in settings anymore.

Feature Request: Keyboard Shortcut to skip to next article

I love NewsGator Online. It has replaced Google Reader as my RSS reader for Desktop an iPhone.

There is only one small feature from Google Reader that I miss a lot: a keyboard shortcut to skip to the next item ('j' in Google Reader.)

This keyboard shortcut is super useful to quickly scan all articles in a feed. It also marks each article as read as you skip to the next.

Feature Request: Ability to delete a clipping from within the feed rather than just within clippings folder

Sometimes I accidentally clip something (I'm a clip-a-holic) and want to immediately unclip it. I can't do so without going to the clippings folder, finding the clipped item, and then deleting it. It would be awesome if the actual RSS reader knew when the current item had been clipped and could allow me to unclip it from there.

Removing Media Player

Unfortunately we have been forced to remove the media player from the NewsGator Online reader. The company that had previously provided this player for us was acquired by another, and we no longer have the rights for this.

We are seeking alternatives. If anyone has any suggestions please let us know.
