Here is a quick-start guide.

New to NewsGator? Here, you can find some helpful links and basic information to get you up and running quickly.

The first step is to create a NewsGator Online account. You can do that by going here. When you create your account, you can select from a number of starter packs. These are hand-selected groups of feeds based on common areas of interest like Technology, Podcasts and Fun Stuff.

Here is a link to our RSS Learning Center where you can find a link to a video to help walk you through the process of creating a NewsGator Online account. Just look for the link entitled “NewsGator Online Quick Tour.”

________________________________________________________________________________

After you have created your NewsGator Online newsreader, you will want to add and remove feeds. There are a number of ways to add new feeds to your subscription list. If you selected any of the starter packs, you already have a solid base to work from.

If you would like to add a single feed that a friend suggested to you, simply click on Add Feeds. Place the feed URL into the submission box and select a folder to add the feed to. It’s as simple as that.

Many people publish their OPML files for others to use. If you are migrating from another newsreader, you may have an OPML file of your own with an existing subscription list. You can import these files into your NewsGator Online account by following the instructions in this Knowledge Base article.

If you would like to search for new feeds, click on Add Feeds | Find Feeds. You can search by category or by a specific keyword. You can subscribe to each feed with one click, and then organize your feeds into folders when you are done searching. To organize your feeds into folders click on Settings | Organize Folders. Check the feeds to be moved, then select a destination folder and hit the Move button.

________________________________________________________________________________

Once you get the feel for how everything works, you’ll realize the hard part is figuring out which feeds to keep and which ones to let go. We horde things by nature, and you may quickly find you have become a digital pack rat with more feeds and information than you can consume. Welcome to the Digital Age. ; )

Advanced users will be interested in one of our desktop or mobile applications. These are free as well. The desktop applications have powerful features like Dinosaur Reports, Attention Reports, and Error lists, to help monitor dead, dying or just plain broken feeds, and feeds you may no longer pay attention to.

________________________________________________________________________________

By allowing you to choose the reader or combination of readers that best suits your needs, our family of news reading products allows virtually anyone to stay on top of the latest news that is relevant to them.

You choose the feeds, and how the news is presented to you, and never have to worry about reading the same article twice. If you mark it read on one newsreader, it will be marked read for you automatically on any other NewsGator newsreader you choose to use.

Oh, and best feature of all? It’s all free!

As if that wasn’t enough, you’ll also get free technical support for any question you may have, and a set of ten Ginsu knives. OK, maybe there aren’t any knives, but you won’t need them. Our news comes pre-sliced. ; )

Just start a new topic in the appropriate forum for any question you may have. One of our NewsGator Pros and/or a staff member will be happy to guide you along. You can also search the forums to see if the question has already been asked.
