Widget feed issues

The local news RSS feed on CDP is acting a bit strange. It performs fine in both IE7 and FireFox, the trouble starts when using it in Newsgator. Newsgator will not display any articles past “Crabtree Falls hikers found” posted on April 4th. I don’t believe it is a Newsgator issue as any other CDP feed posted into the widget displays as expected.

creating tabbed widgets

hello, i am trying to create a widget that has 3 tabs across the top, each displaying a different news feed.. i am looking at the code for another tabbed widget, but not really sure where it is pulling the feed source.. the one we currently have on our site has a lot of background images, this one i just want to be all basic text and background colors.. could someone please point me in the right direction on how i can get this together.. thank you very much

Email address displaying with feed author name

Where does the feed pull an email address from?

I'm working with a content partner who's including my Feed Burner feed in their Editor's Desk widget. Everyone else in the feed displays just an author name, but my content is displaying with an email address that's not public. It's not displaying on the site. It is the default address used for the admin account, but, again, it doesn't display anywhere. It's not displaying in any of my feeds... but yet it's displaying in Editor's Desk - but none of the other contributors are displaying an email address next to their author name.

I just changed the address within Expression Engine and created a test post but it's not pulling it yet (although it's showing up on Google reader and elsewhere) so I don't know if this will fix part of hte problem - but what I want to know is, why is the Editor's Desk displaying an email address for my feed? Where would it be pulling this information from?

Widget shows last item from feed first

I have a custom widget based off of the default "Paging" template. When I first created it the item at the top of the RSS feed it was pulling from would be displayed first. Today I noticed it's displaying the last item from the feed first. I've seen this happen before but it went away if I reset the feed url but it's not doing it this time.

Is there something I'm missing that I need to set in order to make sure it consistently displays the first item in the feed when the widget is first loaded?

News Stopped Populating

I tried to update the RSS url and now the news aren't displaying anymore on my site. I have a google groups RSS feed and I'm aware of the privacy settings that prevent the widget from accessing the feed.

I've set it to "Anybody Can View Content" but no luck.

Include image with RSS feed similar to Discovery Channel example

I'd like to include an image that goes with each feed. The image would be static and not relate specifically to the article feed item but would come from the feed owner. The image would need to be clickable.

but I'm not at all sure.

One of the PDFs I was sent included information about how to customize the footer, but not how to customize the GetThis popup.

height & scrollbars do not work

if i make my widget shorter, the preview shows scrollbars.

but there are no scrollbars in the widget when i put it on my website. it shows all posts. see bottom of sidebar:

Pass a Feed URL to the Widget

When you set a feed url to the option "Provide Content Dynamically" it says that this is the default content if you do not pass a feed URL into the widget.

How do you pass a feed URL into the widget?

I have an RSS feed with multiple categories in it. If I want to have a feed created that shows only stories from a particular category, is this easy to do in the editor's desk? I'm new to this so any help would be greatly appreciated!

The tagging is very simple as <category>category name</category>

RSS Feed Display by Date Range?

Our sites have an community calendar application with an RSS export and want the widget to display a specific date range - such as the next three days only (in the widget controls there is Most Popular and Recent).

I can see all of our sites on NewsGator wanting this type of control.

Anyone have any experience with this type of request?

No luck with AP OVN Video & Image in RSS Widget

We recieve RSS feeds from the AP Online Video Network for each our sites are trying to configure our settings in the newsgator widget to display the attached thumbnail and play the video clip in a pop-up player within the widget.

The code we normally use for displaying the thumbnail and play the video/podcast is not cooperating with these type RSS feeds.

News boxes on my web site are no longer populating with feeds

Hi,

I've been using Newsgator to add feeds to our home page:

The two boxes are:

A-1's DIVER NEWS
this pulls the RSS feed from the A1 blog

DIVE INDUSTRY NEWS
this pulls a bunch of feeds from diverwire.com

They have both stopped working. Did Newsgator change the way to make these work? Do I need to recreate them as a widget? :crying:

I'm not even sure if I'm posting this in the right forum. If not, I apologize in advance.

OrgCode null or not an object

My buzz boxes are showing up with the error:

'orgCode' is null or not an object.

They show up with this error in preview as well as live.

OK, just as soon as I pasted this into the edit box, the error has now changed to

'orgCode' is undefined

Is this just a transient issue on your end?

I hope I am in the right area. I am new to this forum and new to newsgator. I want to place different news feeds in different pages on the same site. Do I just create a new "widget" and copy that code to a page? Does this affect any other pages on the site?

Hello!

I hope I've placed this post in the right place! I'm hoping you can help me resolve the issues I'm having...

I'm on the Editors Desk trying to create a widget.

I've selected content, then set the design (although I'm not able to see anything in the preview window) and then copied the snippet of code into my webpage(I still can't see anything within the preview window on this page either)

Finally I click done and move to a manage titled Manage and receive this error

"Error parsing template:[object Error]"

Can anyone help?

Not seeing news on my website

Hello,

I have 3 problems with newsgator:

1) No news is populating on my website http://www.onlinemarketingreach.com . It should be reading 4 RSS URLs from my News widget.
2)I entered 4 RSS URL's and the widget "News' is previewing only 1 RSS feed.
3) When I enter a RSS feed with an .XML extension in the Research widget it will not accept it.

What can I be doing wrong?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Changing Feed Titles

I have a feed which has a ridiculously long title - "WREG - Home --WREG-TV Channel 3: Your leading source for news, sports and weather for Memphis, Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas" - it's so long the title truncates after "Memphis, Tenne" the widget box :)

I don't want to drop the titles completely - I do want some of the title to display in the widget so people know where it came from. Is there any way to override the feed title?

Buzz potential

Sorry for the long time between posts, but mid-March to mid-April each year are insane for me and I haven't had much time for working with my websites (personal feeds, yes, but not my sites). The crush is over, and I should be doing more work with them and will start providing more feedback.

What I did want to discuss, and I mentioned this in my previous post, but I think you would have a "killer app" if you could tie Buzz into NG locations and the sync API. For instance, I'm using a Buzz window as a custom Netvibes widget right now. (see attached screencap) If I could read my synced feeds(or just a subset as defined in a location) directly from the widget and have them synchronize, it would really kill.

In just the last couple of days of heavy working with Buzz, I am seeing so much potential to it and integrating it into existing public/shared and private/local widgets frameworks like NetVibes UWA, Yahoo! Widgets and Google Desktop. Adding an optional ability to sync would put this product over the top.

Additionally, I see the Buzz as the next logical evolution of the blogroll - sharing your buzz with others on social networking sites like MySpace, Facebook, etc as well as your personal site. This product is that exciting - I just wish I were a better programmer to leverage the full potential of Buzz :) - I still get the feeling that I'm just scratching the service of what can be done with this...

multiple websites=multiple accounts?

I run several websites for non-profit groups I am involved with, along with my personal site. Each group is different, so I want different buzzes for them - do I have to sign up separately for each? If so, is there any way to have a "master" login where I can manage different buzzes

Or better yet, any way to tie buzzes to NGO's locations (or create specific buzz locations?) for us NGO users (or even letting use our NGO login?)?

Asking for "Organization" during login, but organization not in welcoming email

Just signed up. I wanted to change my password, but in the meantime I logged out. when I logged in, I was presented with Username, Password and Organization. I referred to the initial email I received, but it just listed the username and password, not the Organization. I was able to figure it out from the link provided (I just assumed that was the "orgCode token :) ), but if it's a login requirement, it needs to be explicitly listed in the welcoming email.
