Note: Because of the name change, if you don't uninstall on Blackberry first, then you will get a series of 5 questions during install that ask if you want to overwrite. You need to say "Yes" to each prompt.

- Increased the maximum full story cache size allowed from 1024 to 2048

- Now use the "NewsGator Go!" name in place of "NewsGator"

- Blackberry: Fixed a thread deadlock that could occur during full story cache overflow cleanup.

- Reproduced and fixed a regression bug with the focus scrolling getting stuck.

I successfully downloaded the client from http://ngmw.mwap.at/ after receiving my registration email.

After inputing my username name, password and selecting my timezone, I am presented with the following:

I know some feeds have images in them (because i've seen the same feed in other readers).

So why don't i see it in newsgator? I don't even see an option to show images in the channel/feed/whatever.

I found the online newsgator rss controler thing for my acount to be really clean and useful (it shows images with the feeds!) and i liked how it tied in to the mobile version. So why don't i see images in the mobile version?

Help please?

Unable to access Newsgator Go

I received the email with what the website called "download instructions", which is misleading at best (outright lie at worst) because there is absolutely no download involved. That was the first disappointment. The second disappointment was that when I tried to send my Blackberry browser to the URL in the email, http://ngmw.mwap.at, my browser was unable to display the page.

Please advise how to make Newsgator Go at all usable.

I have a Blackberry 8820 running os 4.5.0.153/Platform 2.7.0.105 with AT&T. I am using Newsgator Go! 2.2.7.

This error comes up every single time I load or update Newsgator Go! ("Update failed: java.net.SocketException: Connection reset"). The program is entirely unusable, which is a shame, as I absolutely rely on it for news on my phone and desktop. I really don't want to switch to something else.

I have tried battery pulls, uninstalling & re-installing, clearing the cache, and trying different connection settings. Nothing had worked.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

New Version Timeline?

I'm currently using version 2.2.7, which I believe has been available for months now with no update. I'm planning on upgrading to the bold, and saw other users having some issues along with a request for an icon update.

With that being said, I would still say I still have syncing problems that have never been fixed. GO just doesn't seem to sync correctly and have reported this several times.

Will we see an update anytime soon? I just feel as if GO for the blackberry has gone to the wayside. I have not seen any new features including podcasting support, image support etc.

NewsGator Go Odd Behavior When No New Feeds

I just checked my feeds using FeedDemon on my PC, and everything there seems to be working just fine. I read (or marked as read) all of the new feeds and closed FeedDemon. I then started NewsGator Go on my BlackBerry 8100 (Cingular), and it is telling me that I have one (1) new item in each of my feeds. That is incorrect. When I click on any of the feeds, there is nothing to display (just a blank screen).

I just started NewsGator Go again, and this time I am told that there is one (1) new item in only two of my feeds. Again, however, there are no new items. I can confirm this by checking both my online account and through FeedDemon. Why is NewsGator Go on the BlackBerry 8100 (Cingular) telling me that there are unread items when there aren't?

Thanks for your help with this. This is a new installation on a new Pearl 8100. I am on day one of my thirty day trial. There are no other feed readers installed, and none have been installed prior to NewsGator Go.

Where in the heck is everyone? There are [i]still[/i] significant issues with Go for BlackBerry, but nothing seems to be going on any more. Development has stalled. Is the BlackBerry client a dead end at this point? Should I be recommending to everyone that they stay far, far away from newsgator?

I just sent off an e-mail to newsgator, but based on the automated reply I received, I doubt I will ever see an actual response. What a shame.

Apparently newsgator believes that "free" equals crap support.

Our users are currently using NGES but would like to have the same feeds and functionality on their BB's.

Hi,

I just installed NewsGator Go on a BlackBerry World Edition phone. No feeds display on the mobile application even though all locations are selected for all feeds. I saw another post discussing a similar problem with no answers (I think it was a few months old). Are there any work-arounds for this yet? The post mentioned being able to see feeds after uninstalling/reinstalling so I'll try that but I'm hoping that this is addressed some time...

Also, I must say that this was by far one of the most difficult applications I have ever downloaded. Here is the chain of events:

* Browse newsgator.com website until eventually finding Newsgator Go. Website did not recognize mobile device or format the page accordingly so this was not easy itself.

* Try to download Newsgator Go. Account name required. I did remember my Newsgator account name so that wasn't a big deal. Unfortunately at this point all I received was a message telling me to check my email. Great. I didn't know what email address I used when signing up for Newsgator years ago.

* After trying three different email accounts (pain in the butt on a mobile device when the accounts aren't already linked into the device), I finally found the account which received the download link.

* Selected download link. Error 502 "The specified server is either incorrect or currently unable to handle the request due to temporary overload or maintenance. Please contact the site administrator." Try again. Same error. Try again. Same error. Try again. Same error. GAH. I tried the same thing on an XP PC. After this worked I tried again on the BlackBerry.

* The application downloaded. Great. Too bad I could only see folders not any actual feeds!

What a pain that was. Hopefully it's going to work after a reinstall.

* After uninstall/reinstall I'm back to the 502 error.

* Tried on desktop... Works. Oh, now it works on the Berry.

I can understand there may be maintenance on the site but the number of steps required to download this is ridiculous in my opinion, ESPECIALLY when I need to enter my NewsGator username and password AGAIN after downloading the thing!

Still doesn't work! &*$^*&!! Anyone have a clue what I can do to fix this?

My Clippings & Article Expirations

I have two questions:

1. Is it possible to display all of My Clippings on NewsGator Go! ?

I've tried subscribing to my clippings feed but this displays only 20 of them. Is there a way to configure NewsGator to publish ALL clippings to the RSS feed?

Also, I've tried moving my clippings into the My Clippings/Mobile directory but NewsGator Go! does not load them- it only displays the ones that it put there.

2. How long will articles remain in NewsGator Go! ?

Do the articles disappear the moment they are no longer in the associated RSS feed or can I ensure that all articles remain for a set period of time?

"Send" article to contact stopped working.

Some time last night, it appears my send to contact function stopped working. I'd use this option to send myself articles (to my @vzw.blackberry.net e-mail address), and it worked great up until last night, when it seems to have stopped sending the articles out.

Now, when I send an article to contact (in this case me), the NewsGator BlackBerry app says it was sent, but it never arrives. I've also tried sending to my other e-mail addresses, to no avail.

I'm using a BlackBerry 8830WE on Verizon Wireless, with Newsgator Go v2.2.7.

Install of NewsGator Go! on Blackbery 8800

Hi,

I installed NewsGator Go! on my Blackbery 8800 and after adding my account to the feed reader, I found that it displayed a 'java.io.ioexception' error message when trying to update my feeds.

It works fine on a 8700v.

The 8800 is pretty much standard as per new and nothing else has ever been installed on it. Also, nothing has been updated either since new.

Any suggestions to what might be the cause?

Not all RSS Subscriptions Appear on Blackberry

I have installed the latest version of Newsgator Go on my blackberry (Curve 8300) but not all RSS subscriptions appear in the main Feeds screen. I have about 15 subscriptions and over time, subscriptions disappear slowly and I am left with only a few. When I uninstall and reinstall, some subscriptions come back but not complete. Please can someone help. Thanks

NewsGator Go Requires a data connection Error

I downloaded News Gator Go to my Blackberry 8830 yesterday afternoon. I am getting a list of all the folders & news sources I subscribed to online, but when I go to open a folder, I keep getting the error message: NewsGator Go! requires a data connection.

I have a connection, as I am getting email and other content to my phone. Also the fact that I am getting the topic index of what I selected online tells me some level of communication is happening to the phone.

Is this a configuration error?

I'm having several problems that make this product unusable. The Keyboard appears on the screen cutting off viewing space. I've tried selecting Full Screen but that has no effect.

When you select a feed to view and click it, it asks if you want to view it. Can't this be turned off? If you click an article it then asks if you want to open it. Why?

I love the FeedDemon on my PC but I need a product that will work on Storm. Are there any improvements planned for this product? Thanks

Can't scroll with the 9500 Storm

I've been using with total satisfaction Newsgator Go for Blackberry since I bought my first 8100 Pearl, then the 8800 and so on, everything was perfect, but now with the Storm something new happens, the touch screen.

Maybe this could be the reason that makes NG unuseful on that device.
I hope i'm going wrong, but i think i'm not the only one having the no scrolling page issue.

If somebody can take me to the right way to make it works flawlessly on the Storm..

sync My Clippings from desktop to BB

I'm having sync issues between my BB and NewsGator online. I wanted to clip articles from my computer to read on my BB. I created a folder within My Clippings but when I open Newsgator on my BB the folder isn't there. Is there a setting in Newsgator Go! or on my BB that I'm missing?

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned here before, but even if it has, the threads are quite old.

What I was looking to suggest was the ability to view all of the headlines for unread items in one list, instead of having to select each feed separately. This functionality exists on NetNewsWire as well as the NewsGator online service.

I would love to use Newsgator Go! on my Bold, but there are many shortcomings and bugs that are causing me to look to Viigo as an alternative. Is development still active on this program?

2.1.9 Memory --- Don't Understand how it works?

I don't understand how Newsgator GO works in terms of the memory it takes up on my device. I'm using the defaults (2000 articles and 512kb)... however I would say right now 4+megs are being used on my device and it keeps going up. What does 2000 articles mean? Unread? Or Total?

It would be nice to just say don't use over 1mb or 2mb. Otherwise, can someone explain to me how this works so I can adjust my setting accordingly so I don't run out of memory. OR alternatively, explain how I can use the expansion microSD card for the storage.

My mobile clippings - deletions not syncing back to blackberry

Hi, I have Go! 2.2.7 on my 8320 and FeedDemon 2.7 on my desktop. When I delete a clipping from the mobile folder on FeedDemon, it syncs out to the Newsgator web site, but the deletions don't make it down to the Go! client on my blackberry.
Bug or setting somewhere?

Request: Update Icon For Bold

Clicking Trackball Opens a Menu, not the Feed

I just installed 2.2.7 on the Bold and found the following:

If I want to open a feed to view its content, I highlight the feed name and press the trackball. I expected this would open the feed. Instead it opens a menu (same menu as if I had pressed the Blackberry button). The top item on the menu is Open, so I click that and the feed items are displayed. Basically I have do to a double trackball click to open a feed.

Is there a setting that will change this behaviour?

Is anbody from NG out there? Is NG Go a dead product?

To me it doesn't seem like anyone at NG is posting to this forum anymore. The last post I saw from them was in 2007! Lately I've been having more of the "12 Communication error : 502 - Bad Gateway" errors and timeouts all the time, and I see that there are a few others also.

So, is NG Go dead, and this forum dead?

I didn't do extensive testing but I tried it twice using the same email address and got the same wrong results.

When viewing a feed item on my Blackberry, if I click Send and select Contact it brings up my contact list on the device. If I select a contact that has multiple email addresses, it prompts for which address but that is not the address that is displayed when I return to NG Go!. In my case, I selected the 1st email address of 3 I have for this contact (happens to be my own contact info) and both times it put in the last email address and not the 1st which is the one I selected.

Can anyone reproduce it?

LARGER, BOLDER Fonts...Please!

I LOVE your RSS reader for Blackberry. The only other one which comes close is Viigo.

The speed, and ability to import from Google Reader AND preserve folders is fantastic!

However, please have pity on those of us with eyes close to 50 years of age. Please make available LARGER AND BOLDER fonts to read the feed posts.

I have tried all the fonts you have and at the largest size, but still too small to read comfortably. This is one area where Viigo is better.

I know you can do it, as the font of the Title of the feed is in a bolder (though still not large enough) font.

PLEASE add the ability for the user to customize each font.

In the past I occasionally recevied this error when trying to do various activities (update, mark read, get full article, etc.) but the problem always cleared on retry.

Beginning this morning I am getting the almost all the time for anything I try and do, rending the service unusable. Thinking it might be some OS corruption I did a battery pull and hard reset but the error persists.

Ok maybe i just dont get it. but i dont seem to be able to figure out how to get NG to download posts and/or full articles for offline use. when my radio goes out (ie on plane) i see the count of articles but no posts in most of the feeds. Could you explain how this feature works. Thanks.

Problems seen with version 2.2.7

Seen using version 2.2.7:

* As feed items are read, the unread count in the upper-right corner of the article screen, item list screen (showing items in a feed) as well as the counts on the main screen listing the feeds subscribed to never changes. Selecting Update from the main screen has no effect on the unread count. The only work-around is to exit Go! and restart the application.

* The application crashes if you open a feed in which no previous items have been downloaded (the item list screen contains no items) and press "7" before any items have been retrieved from the server The error "Uncaught exception: Index -1 >= 2" is displayed. This can be reproduced by: 1) delete all of the items in a feed, 2) returning to the main screen, 3) reopen the feed, and 4) press "7".

* Feeds containing unread items are not already displayed when switching to Go! from another application. If you read all of the unread items in a folder, return to the main screen, switch to another application, wait a few hours for the feed you just read to have unread items again and then bring Go! back to the front the unread count for the folder containing the feed you read earlier will update but the feed that has unread items again is not displayed. To get the feed to appear again you have to close and reopen the folder it is in.

* From time to time I've noticed that Go! will indicate that a feed contains unread items but if I open the feed none are displayed. When I see this if I go to NewsGator Mobile the unread items are shown and are items that I had read previously via Go! It appears that Go! is notifying the server that an article has been read and the server is returning an error which Go! is ignoring (since it marked the item as read when the server wasn't notified successfully) or the server returned success even though the marking of the article as read on the server failed.

Problem Syncing within past week or so

For the past week or so, there's been a problem syncing my rss feed. For example, I click on a folder 'Entertainment'. Then I click a feed 'dTheatre.com (6)' which is in bold. After I mark everything as read, and go back to the main view... 'dTheatre.com' stays bold with the number 6, yet if I click on it... everything is marked as read.

Any ideas? I have a 8100 on ATT with GO version 2.2.7

Problem accessing 'full story'

Hi all,

Although it seems to be a random occurrence, I sometimes have trouble accessing the 'full story'. I see the summary, but when I click the trackball (on my BlackBerry Pearl 8100) to view the full story, it says "Could not access full story: The response was too long".

I tried Menu > Settings > Download to raise the 'maximum size of full story text download' to 99Kb, up from the 64Kb it was originally at, which seems to be the maximum value allowed. That did not seem to fix the issue.

In addition, it seems to happen most often in my boygeniusreport.com feed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
