Problem Syncing within past week or so

For the past week or so, there's been a problem syncing my rss feed. For example, I click on a folder 'Entertainment'. Then I click a feed 'dTheatre.com (6)' which is in bold. After I mark everything as read, and go back to the main view... 'dTheatre.com' stays bold with the number 6, yet if I click on it... everything is marked as read.

Any ideas? I have a 8100 on ATT with GO version 2.2.7

Problem accessing 'full story'

Hi all,

Although it seems to be a random occurrence, I sometimes have trouble accessing the 'full story'. I see the summary, but when I click the trackball (on my BlackBerry Pearl 8100) to view the full story, it says "Could not access full story: The response was too long".

I tried Menu > Settings > Download to raise the 'maximum size of full story text download' to 99Kb, up from the 64Kb it was originally at, which seems to be the maximum value allowed. That did not seem to fix the issue.

In addition, it seems to happen most often in my boygeniusreport.com feed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

News Articles Will Not Display in Feed Folder

I run v 2.2.7 on my blackberry. On 2 of my feeds the name of the feeds are displayed together with the number of articles. For example one is Duke Magazine (50). But when you click on it and open the feed no articles are displayed. I have the same problem on another feed. Yet the articles are displayed on the Newsgator web version. I can see and read the articles logged into my feeds. Display settings to show articles on newsgator go is checked yes. What's wrong?:crying:

As a test I downloaded Viigo to my BB and added Duke Magazine feed to that reader. It works fine.

"Send" article to contact stopped working.

Some time last night, it appears my send to contact function stopped working. I'd use this option to send myself articles (to my @vzw.blackberry.net e-mail address), and it worked great up until last night, when it seems to have stopped sending the articles out.

Now, when I send an article to contact (in this case me), the NewsGator BlackBerry app says it was sent, but it never arrives. I've also tried sending to my other e-mail addresses, to no avail.

I'm using a BlackBerry 8830WE on Verizon Wireless, with Newsgator Go v2.2.7.

I cannot uninstall Newsgator off my Blackberry Curve 8310.
Did as instructed from Knowledge base, but Newsgator is not listed under applications.
Any suggestions?

Sync over WIFI

I noticed NewsGator Go! won't sync over WIFI. I request this feature.

I have the 8820. I disabled the radio and enabled WIFI and Go reports it's in Flight Mode. It says Flight Mode can't be turn off because the phone's data service is not available. At the same time I am able to surf the net in the browser.

can Go sync via usb (blackberry)

I love NG Go for the Blackberry. Thank you for a wonderful gift. It really helps me scan my feeds looking for articles to clip for later reading on my desktop. It is well thought out and very functional. With all the available keystroke shortcuts, why isn't there one for Mark All Read?

This would save a lot of time as it is quite frequently that I, (many people?) use this function.

Most Recent Articles Will Not Display on Blackberry 8320

For some strange reason newsgator go on my BB 8320 will no longer download the newest articles from feeds like the New York Times, NY Times Business, Yahoo News, etc. For example I am only receiving feeds through last Wednesday Feb 13, 2008. Newsgator GO used to always show the most recent articles when I selected update.

I am running v2.2.7.

As a test i deleted my new york times home page feed and then added it back as a feed. Now it shows the most recent 11 artilces posted today but none of the old artilces from periods prior to Feb 13, 2008.

Articles are set at 2000 ( i am showing 851) and my settings are set for showing the newest articles first.

Why is this suddenly happening?

Hello,

We are experimenting with pulling RSS feeds from our in-house Sharepoint server to our blackberry handhelds. I am curious if this blackberry client supports this function. From what I have read, the NewsGator enterprise server can pull the RSS feeds from the MOSS server and relay them to the blackberry. But this might be a little much at this stage. I was curious if this application supports it.

Or has any know of an blackberry RSS Reader that can do this ?

Install of NewsGator Go! on Blackbery 8800

Hi,

I installed NewsGator Go! on my Blackbery 8800 and after adding my account to the feed reader, I found that it displayed a 'java.io.ioexception' error message when trying to update my feeds.

It works fine on a 8700v.

The 8800 is pretty much standard as per new and nothing else has ever been installed on it. Also, nothing has been updated either since new.

Any suggestions to what might be the cause?

Ok maybe i just dont get it. but i dont seem to be able to figure out how to get NG to download posts and/or full articles for offline use. when my radio goes out (ie on plane) i see the count of articles but no posts in most of the feeds. Could you explain how this feature works. Thanks.

How to loading all articles

How can I set it so that that all the articles load automatically when I open newsgator go. Correctly the only load when I open the the feed. I would like all the feeds to update when I launch the program. Even if it takes a couple of minutes.

Showing feeds with no unread articles?

Hi there

I'm a new user to NGG, and there's one thing I can't figure out at the moment: if I've "marked as read" all of the articles in a particular feed, is there any way of revisiting those articles on my BlackBerry?

For example, I had a feed with one new article in it this morning. I opened the article, which marked it as read, but then I wanted to go back to it later on. As the feed had no unread items, it was not showing in the feed list, so I couldn't seem to do this...

Ideally I'd just like to show all feeds, whether they have unread items or not!

As an aside, I'd like to add my voice to all the comments about being able to schedule and download articles for offline use - without this I'm not sure I can carry on using NCG!

NewsGator Go! lacks only one thing, in my opinion, to be the perfect mobile news reader: The ability to read old articles after marking a feed as read. Marking a feed as read hides it from the feed list altogether - how about just marking it with (0) new articles?

NewsGator Go Odd Behavior When No New Feeds

I just checked my feeds using FeedDemon on my PC, and everything there seems to be working just fine. I read (or marked as read) all of the new feeds and closed FeedDemon. I then started NewsGator Go on my BlackBerry 8100 (Cingular), and it is telling me that I have one (1) new item in each of my feeds. That is incorrect. When I click on any of the feeds, there is nothing to display (just a blank screen).

I just started NewsGator Go again, and this time I am told that there is one (1) new item in only two of my feeds. Again, however, there are no new items. I can confirm this by checking both my online account and through FeedDemon. Why is NewsGator Go on the BlackBerry 8100 (Cingular) telling me that there are unread items when there aren't?

Thanks for your help with this. This is a new installation on a new Pearl 8100. I am on day one of my thirty day trial. There are no other feed readers installed, and none have been installed prior to NewsGator Go.

Java.Net Error

This is on a BBerry 8703e over Verizon using 2.2.5.

2.2.1 - Java error?

For the past week or so, I keep getting errors on GO. The error is:

Any ideas?

Also on a side note, I know there is a beta version of GO for Windows, when will it be available for Blackberry?

Podcasts and 8830?

Great RSS reader... but...

I've added a few podcasts and on the desktop they show up and work perfectly. On my BB8830 they show up in the Go application, but when I select an episode I get a "unknown or invalid content type (audio/mpeg)" error.

Any ideas on if/when podcasts will be supported - or if I have to do something special to enable that functionality?

Switch from Windows Mobile to Blackberry?

I have licenses for FeedDemon and Newsgator Mobile Go for Windows Mobile. However I no longer have a Windows Mobile device, so that license is pretty much useless to me now.

I presently have a Blackberry Curve from AT&T Wireless. Can I download and use the Mobile Client for Blackberry in place of my Windows Mobile version? Or is that a separate license that would require purchase?

Unable to select a feed...

Using version 2.2.1 I've come across a bug where on the feed list screen I sometimes cannot scroll (or use 2 or 8 to scroll up or down) up or down past a certain feed. When this happens I have to exit (close) the application and restart it.

I never has this problem prior to version 2.2.1.

Changes in options doesn't save...

I'm using 2.1.9 and in Settings - Cache..... if I change the Maximum full story data stored, it doesn't save. It then says Thank You for Purchasing Newsgator Go.

Speaking of which, I've made a couple of other posts and haven't heard anything. Since I have purchased Newsgator GO, I wonder what type of support I'm supposed to receive and time/frame for a response.

Installation on Blackberry Pearl through Cincular

I have successfully downloaded the application, but when I start the program it locks up my Blackberry and I have to power down the device. When I turn it back on, I have the following error message:

"Uncaught exception: Application Newsgator20en_1 6x16(140) is not responding; process terminated."

Any help would be appreciated.

Communication Error on Pearl

Hi,
I have just installed NewsGator Go! on my BB Pearl using the BlackBerry Browser. On the first load I entered my NewsGator account details, and set the connection type to BES with MDS (I'm running 4.1.3 for Domino). When I continued, it said I need to configure my blackberry for direct TCP/IP (this seemed to be Direct GRPS, which didn't seem right for BES/MDS..). So I went back to the settings and changed it to Automatic, and then when I saved that it is giving a '3 Communication error: Invalid URL parameter. (java.io.IOException: Invalid URL parameter). I can use the blackberry browser fine via MDS, as well as other applications that make direct network connections. I'm running BB OS v4.2.0.67, with Vodafone Australia as the carrier. Help please!

Is there any way to change which location NG Go uses? I've got FeedDemon and NetNewsWire using "HomePC", and I'd like my Blackberry Pearl to share the same.

There seem to be some sync glitches otherwise, and some of my organized feeds are unorganized in this new location.

Alternatively, should I switch my desktop readers over to the NG Go location?

Install Difficulties - 8700g

Loaded the NewsGator Go! app on my 8700g, and it seemed to install, but it won't download any channels. I get 2 errors --

The network connection was unexpectantly terminated.

12 Communication error Failed to transmit (java.ioException: Falied to transmit)

Then it messed up my display, and I couldn't toggle between screens.

Main feed page not properly updating

Not sure of the official name of the main page that is displayed when you launch the application, but I noticed that it is no longer being updated like it was in the previous version. I've been running the latest release since it was released. Prior to this release, when I brought up the app, the main page listing all the feeds, would update. It would display a view of what I'd see if I went to the NewsGator online web page.

Now what I see when I navigate to the app on the BB and it was already running, it says it is updating and seems to refresh, but the display still shows the same feeds as it did before the update. If I had previously used the app and there were 4 of 20 feeds with unread posts, those 4 would remain and the remaining 16, or portion of the 16, that had new posts, are not displayed after the update.

If I close the app completely and then re-launch it, it pulls in all the feeds with unread posts.

Anyone else experiencing this in the latest build?

I'm using the Pearl and it said I have the 'Java Version'... but it seems to work just fine with 2.1.9. Should I be worried? Reinstall anything?

Updating/Scrolling doesn't work

Sometimes when a feed/folder updates, I can't scroll down past a certain point with the trackball. If I open/close the folder, it then shows the updated feeds and it will allow me to continue to scroll down. If I don't do this, then I can't move further down the list. I can reproduce this, but not with exact steps as it's very flighty.

v2.2.1 available but I can't download OTA (and a few other nits)

I happened to see, by going to the Settings page that there was a new version available.

First, I'm running v2.18. The settings screen says v219 is available. a) No link to it so I find my original email in Gmail and go to the OTA download link. b) Now, I rarely have any need to view the settings page so I suggest there be a more "in your face" notification that a new version is available.

Second: when I go to the OTA download link it shows:
NewsGator Go! Install
version 2.2.1
so the settings page is obviously checking something different on what version is the most current.

Third: when I try and download using the 2.2.1 link for an OTA install, it launches the typical Blackberry download screen and shows it as version 2.2.1 but the size shows as 0. And if I do try and download it I get an error:

907 Invalid COO
HTTP Error 500: Internal Server Error

Can someone look at the issues above and especially the last one.

Note: Because of the name change, if you don't uninstall on Blackberry first, then you will get a series of 5 questions during install that ask if you want to overwrite. You need to say "Yes" to each prompt.

Changes

- Fixed bug #406 - When Feed Tree is Expanded -- Post Counts Don't Change with Arrival of New Content

- Increased the maximum full story cache size allowed from 1024 to 2048

- Now use the "NewsGator Go!" name in place of "NewsGator"

- Took out debugging code

Older fixes:

- Blackberry: Fixed a thread deadlock that could occur during full story cache overflow cleanup.

- Reproduced and fixed a regression bug with the focus scrolling getting stuck.

- May have fixed the issue with focus skipping over (again). Please check it out.

- Fixed a bug where the feed hierarchy was getting expanded incorrectly when in articles view.

- Greatly improved the performance of expanding and collapsing folders, especially when dealing with large feed sets.

- Finally was able to reproduce an UnhandledException in the debugger (no it wasn't fixed before). Now it's fixed.

- Fix for the uncaught exception error. Please test and let me know.

- Fixed NoSuchElementException at startup on the Java build

Installation on a Blackberry Pearl

I downloaded the app onto my Pearl and installed it. So far, no problems.

But when I try to start it up I get the following message:

Error starting NewsGator20en_16x16: Module 'NewsGator20en_16x16' does not match codfile timestamp of sibling module 'NewsGator20en_16x16-1'

I've deleted the app and the module and reinstalled but still the same message.

Any ideas?

frustrated with NEWSGATOR install on blackberry PEARL --or lack of install

Free version was working just fine--except trial expired--!! So I figured I liked it--i'd buy it!! Problem is i guess I didn't understand what i was buying -- I went to the website and bought something--i guess for my desktop--didn't mean to!! That was $19.95 and i kept waiting for my trial version on my Blackberry to work again...no such luck. Finally I realised I needed to buy the $29.95 version of Newsgator!! So i did that. Did I mention the free version worked just fine till trial ran out!!

So first i removed the free version!! That used to work GREAT and I LOVED it it!! Then I pointed my phone browser to the link provided. Downloaded software. turns out it's for the Enterprise email server and guess what I don't have that!! So then I tried downloading the software on my desktop hoping to get the right version that way!!

No Luck!! Desktop doesn't recognise the file--when i point to the Newsgator folder i extracted -the newsgator.alx file -- the message I get is "No additional applications designed for your device were found" I am extremely frustrated. Why can't the version i Piad for work as flawlessly as the free version? I've spent almost $60 because of the design of your website not communicating to me what i thought i needed --really i should have been able to activate via the newsgator on my phone--but I tried everything I could there to no avail.

ANY ideas appreciated--i've becomed spoiled by this application and am bummed that now i don't have anything except a hole in my pocket from money wasted!!:(

2.1.9 Memory --- Don't Understand how it works?

I don't understand how Newsgator GO works in terms of the memory it takes up on my device. I'm using the defaults (2000 articles and 512kb)... however I would say right now 4+megs are being used on my device and it keeps going up. What does 2000 articles mean? Unread? Or Total?

It would be nice to just say don't use over 1mb or 2mb. Otherwise, can someone explain to me how this works so I can adjust my setting accordingly so I don't run out of memory. OR alternatively, explain how I can use the expansion microSD card for the storage.

Go! for BB - Send issue - Email address selection

I didn't do extensive testing but I tried it twice using the same email address and got the same wrong results.

When viewing a feed item on my Blackberry, if I click Send and select Contact it brings up my contact list on the device. If I select a contact that has multiple email addresses, it prompts for which address but that is not the address that is displayed when I return to NG Go!. In my case, I selected the 1st email address of 3 I have for this contact (happens to be my own contact info) and both times it put in the last email address and not the 1st which is the one I selected.

Can anyone reproduce it?
