Comments below are from an initial intensive 4-6hrs use, will look to update this thread if/when I have additional comments.
Feedback:

- Stability seems great and much improved over 1.5 version that would crash within reading 3 posts normally related to having used the five way directional pad for navigation of scrolling rather than direct touch screen use, although crashes would still happen this way every 10-15 posts.

- Not so keen that if you have read all items in a feed and say OK to return to feed list, because that list is all completely read it moves you to the next list with unread items. I would rather see confirmation that all were read and then choose to go back to index and then into a new feed of my choice rather than think I've read everything and then get a feed list with unread items...you have to pay attention that its a new feed you've been sent to automatically!

Bugs:

- If device has no open data connection then opening a posts item results in entirely blank page being displayed instead of normal post text, with just 'Next & Menu' UI buttons at bottom of screen. If you start up IE and wait for it to establish some sort of net connection and retry same items they display fine. Seems to be related to Item display now is part of IE browser window (at least now I've seen IE like progress bar often when article is first rendering)
Same behaviour happens if you put device into 'Airline' mode so shut off phone, wifi etc.

Basically this beta has no working fully offline mode. Folder/Feed list, and Feeds item list are not affected and work as expected...you just can't see the actual individual item detail.

- As with 1.5 Client still syncs feeds automatically in cradle even when options have been set to disable that behaviour

- Current Beta client does not seem able/want to automatically create a new GSM data connection if needed, instead just complains of no network connection. v1.5 did do this correctly. Example found by disconnecting GSM data connection and then trying to sync...program just complains no network connection available.
I had to open IE and browse to a page to get IE to create a data connection, then switch back to NewsGator at which point it was happy to sync

Many thanks for the Beta which has given me back my WM RSS...unfortenately not in offline mode yet, which is one of my important features as unfortuenately I often have the most time to read while waiting in hospitals where all mobile wireless has to be switched off.

I hope those comments are of help, I'll keep an eye out for an new versions to test.

Alan.

Device: HTC Hermes
OS: WM 6 CE OS 5.2.1948
.NET Compact Framework: 3.5.7283.0
Update 8th April:
Only two more minor points to add:
- When you delete an item from 'My Media' it would be nice for the list to refresh to show the delete has been successful rather than having to exit that screen and then re-enter if you want to check the delete has happened
- Sometimes, but not always, when an article has loaded the page may blank out and then re-loads as if you've just clicked into it for the first time. I think this is triggered sometimes by the completion of a image loading into the article after the initial cached text, but it doesn't happen that way most of the time.

Flagging

Is there any chance of getting flagging support in this new BETA version? How about a way to suppress the noise it makes when synchronizing now?

Install trouble

I am trying to install the 2.0 Beta. I used ActiveSync to remove the previous version of NewsGator Go! for Windows Mobile. ActiveSync no longer lists the application as being installed. But, when I try to run the install for the 2.0 Beta, I get a message saying that I have to remove the previous version before I can install the new one.
I tried to re-install the old version and remove it again. That gives me the same message about removing the previous version first, too. I also went into Start, Settings, Remove Programs and NewsGator Go is not listed. So, the phone and ActiveSync don't think that a version of NewsGator Go is installed, but the beta installer does.
How can I proceed?
Update: I figured it out. Somehow, although the application was removed, the NewsGator 2.0 folder was still on my device with some opml files in it. I deleted this folder and was then able to install the new beta application.

Announcing the release of NewsGator Go! for Windows Mobile 2.0 Beta

We are happy to announce the arrival of NewsGator Go! for Windows Mobile 2.0 Beta. (Version 2.0.0.23378) Here is the link.

The download for this file has been streamlined. In the past it was necessary to apply for an email to be sent with further instructions. Now we have a website with direct links for all of our mobile products. Our servers will recognize your device and will give you the appropriate download automatically.

Here are some of the fixes/changes in version 2.0 beta:

• scrolling in post detail view crash resolved
• mark all read – if you are on the post list view and select “Mark All Read” it takes you to the next feed or back to the feed list if you are at the end
• index position after detail view - after closing the post detail view I fixed the defect that was not preserving the selection and scroll position
• post detail screen – if you select next and are at the end of the feed list it now punts you back to the feed list
• description overlap in post list view - remove carriage return line feeds from author element to prevent text overlap
• progress bar – vertical position causing an unnecessary scroll bar on the feed list view
• list drawing – fixed misleading whitespace at bottom of post list view when there are more articles present
• selection was getting hidden in post list view on scrolling
• Fixed an issue where clicking on a post would not open the post
• After reading all of your posts in the Article or the Article Detail View, focus is returned to your feed list and the tree is collapsed.
• After closing the Article Detail View, there had been reports where the application would be minimized giving the appearance that it had been closed. This has been resolved.
