That's the normal behavior. A poor choice of labeling, that's for sure.

Just think of it as "Submit."

When you've logged in to edit a forum message, all works fine, but the "post" button under the edited message still displays "edit message."

(XPSP2, FF 2.0....13, standard editor/skin (never changed default). I hit F5 a couple of times, same deal.)
