Hi, I noticed that when I view my blog using FeeDdemon 1.5, the "date stamp" is when I downloaded the article in to FD, not when the article was published. But other blogs, the "date stamp" indicates when the article was published, not when FD viewed the downloaded. As an example: My blog: Specious Argument: http://www.speciousargument.com/blog/ Atom Feed: http://www.speciousargument.com/blog/atom.xml Friend's blog: Daily Options Report: http://adamsoptions.blogspot.com Atom Feed: http://adamsoptions.blogspot.com/atom.xml When I view the feed source, I can see that the published and updated times are listed. I am using Movable Type's atom template straight out of the box without modification. So I am curious as to why my time stamps appear to be when the article was downloaded and not when it was published. Thank you. Kevin

Hi,
I notice that newsgator reports the correct time when I wrote an article, whereas FeedDemon seems to show the time when the article was downloaded by FeedDemon. For example, one article I wrote yesterday correctly shows up as being written yesterday at 4:35, but in FeedDemon, it shows today at 1:13, which is when I downloaded the article.
Is there a setting or switch so that FeedDemon shows the publishing date by the author as opposed to the downloaded time?
Kevin

Are you referring to the news item pane? (this is the pane either in the middle or upper-right depending on your browser window placement) If so, just right-click on the column headings and there should be several date columns for you to choose from - one of those will show the time you're looking for.

critter42, Interesting. When I right-click and add a published column to FeedDemon, my blog doesn't list any times. Other blogs do show a published time, though I am not sure if they are using RSS or atom. But when I look at Newsgator, it shows the published times for my blog. When I view the source, using FeedDemon, of my atom feed, I see the following:

So there is definitely a published time there. I am not sure what to think. Any ideas? Kevin

Hi, According to http://www.bradsoft.com/support/faq/faqitem.asp?id=86, it discusses the use of the "pubDate" tag. But as shown in an example (example on page 3) by the Internet Engineering Task Force as shown http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc4287.txt , it uses the tag "published" for the atom feeds. As I stated in an earlier message, my atom feed uses "published" yet no published dates are shown in FeedDemon. The only dates that are shown are the dates when FD 1.5 retrieved the feed from my blog. I have asked Movable Type, and they believe that their atom template for MT 3.2 is fine. I deleted my prior MT 3.2 atom template and started fresh. It was unmodified before. However, with the new template the problem continues to exist. Is there anything that I can do to have FD show the publication date? The reason for this request is that if you were to begin to access my blog today, then 15 posts would appear as though they are written today. I believe when I did this a few days ago, the posts were in the incorrect order because there was no publication date listed. Any help would be appreciated. Kevin

I just checked this out with Nick and it turns out that FD 1.5 doesn't support Atom publish dates properly. I tested this in FD 2 (currently in beta) and it's working properly.

Hi Jack,
Thank you very much for your helpful comments. I'll download FD 2 later today or tomorrow.
Best regards, Kevin
