| When I launch FeedDemon 2.0 Final I get hung up on the "Existing User/New User/Stand-alone Trial User" dialog box. I select the "Existing User" radio button, enter my username and password, click next, the next button goes disabled, and the application doesn't do anything else... No feedback, nothing... I can click the Back button which takes me back to the activation splash, but if I go back to the username/password dialog the Next button is still disabled..

I managed to get one step further, I entered my account details, then the next screen asked for a serial.... I have a Business Standard account(which includes FD), and haven't recieved a seperate serial for FD, which leaves me a bit stuck.

@dannypdx - At the bottom of the serial screen you should see a button to retrieve a serial number. Click that to get the new system generated number and continue.
If not, please send a screenshot of that particular screen to support@newsgator.com, include your NG username and be sure to reference this thread: http://www.newsgator.com/forum/shwmessage.aspx?ForumID=14&MessageID=15579
@grahams - The activation wizard embeds IE. You need to make sure that cookies are enabled in IE (at least for newsgator.com) and if you have security set to "High" then you need to add NewsGator as a trusted site.

I temporarily lowered the security to Low, which got me to the serial screen, but now when I try to activate it tells me the proxy settings are incorrect. I manually set the proxy to the correct value but get the same error.
Activation is pretty annoying, especially when you have customers in corporate environments with pretty restrictive firewall/proxies...

| I didn't want to screw around with the activation wizard all day so I created an SSH tunnel to activate through...

Of course, now that I have it activated I still can't connect to any sites or newsgator through the company proxy, and I can't use my SSH tunnel all the time, so I am still dead in the water.
I can't even open up google inside of feeddemon...

| I managed to get regular web pages to open in FeedDemon, but now if I try to import my NewsGator subs I get the "choose your subscriptions" dialog flashing on the screen for a split second before returning to the "Import an OPML file/Import your NewsGator subscriptions/..." dialog.

FeedDemon relies on SOAP to communicate with NewsGator. If there are any restrictions on your firewall related to SOAP traffic, you can run into problems.
If it's possible, I'd recommend checking with your network admins to see if SOAP traffic may be getting blocked. A lot of firewalls lump SOAP into the "unknown traffic" category and block it by default.
Additionally, there are some cases where traffic is blocked based on the "gator" in "NewsGator" though that's increasingly rare.

I can browse just fine to the NewsGator site, so I'm pretty sure there isn't a "gator" rule by default.
As far as the SOAP restrictions goes, my IT department is completely clueless and just uses the generic "WebSense" defaults... They would look at me like I had lobsters crawling out of my ears if I asked them about SOAP restrictions... Is there anything I can do in FeedDemon to see the error log, etc?
