I am having a related problem across most _all_ my feeds. Well, it's really about psots re-appearing. Not sure if I should start a new thread but here goes:

Each day I sit down and read my feeds, deleting them as go. I always run across posts that I deleted the previous day. At least 20% overlap from day to day...

Any ideas?

Hi folks,

Apologies for the duplication problems. Last weekend we were able to reproduce the duplication errors not only in FeedDemon but also in NewsGator Inbox and NetNewsWire, and we've spent quite a bit of time researching the problem.

I'm afraid that we don't have a solution yet, but we do have this as a "critical issue" (it's our case #62224, if anyone needs to reference it), so resolving it is a very high priority for us.

I'll make sure to keep everyone posted on the status of this issue by replying here when the fix is in production.

Thanks,

Nick, that's great to hear! I wasn't seeing the problem anymore since I first posted this topic, but then a few days ago it started showing up again. I hope you can get to the bottom of it.

(I haven't yet found any logic to which feeds are displaying -- not all of them, in my case.)

FYI: This morning the online team informed me that this problem has been resolved. I should add, though, that you may continue to see duplication in feeds that contain errors such as changing GUIDs or pubDates (a few months back I noticed Engadget doing that). In those situations, of course, pretty much every aggregator will show duplication since the problem is with the feeds themselves.

Unfortunately Nick this is still a problem for me.

I read a dozen feeds last night and this morning all the posts I deleted reappeared. Love the _concept_ of this product suite (desktop/online/mobile readers) but I can't purchase or reccomend this product when my trial ends in 15 days unless this is resolved.

I tried to attach an OPML file but it would not let me. I would be happy to email it to you for testing.

Please help!

Ah...if we're talking about deleted posts re-appearing, then there's a different reason (apologies for not catching this earlier). This FAQ entry explains the problem.

Now, I'll be the first to admit that FeedDemon should probably handle deleted items better - I just wanted to point out that the duplication you're seeing has nothing to do with NewsGator synching.

Best regards,

Thanks for clarifying Nick.

Google reader never had this problem for - why can't your software handle this limitation in some way? I can't possbly see how people could put up with re-reading news all the time. Should I be marking items as read instead instead of deleting them? How am I expected to use the application?

thanks,

pete

All I can say is that it should - the lack of this ability is pretty glaring, I admit.

IMO, yes. Deleting items really isn't necessary since older items are automatically purged. Just mark items as read and be done with them.
