I was hoping this was going to be fixed for the final 2.1, but now its out and its still happening.
Often in combined view there are huge gaps between the articles, effectively meaning that i'm often only seeing 1 article on the screen at once, even when they are short one sentence posts. Kinda defeats the point of Combined view.
It seems to happen with some feeds more often than others. But it isn't isn't consistent nor a problem with the feeds in question.
I've attached a screenshot, notice that the article you can see isn't the last one on the page.

| I'm still trying to reproduce this bug. I've tried a number of things that I thought would fix it, but no dice yet. So it remains on to the to-do list for the next release.

| Thanks for checking it out. I should probably add that i'm running it on a core duo iMac. Just in case the intel factor makes a difference.

Just to add some more info on this: the "Intel factor" may indeed make the difference. On my MacBook Pro, I invariably get the huge gaps from the MacNN feed when using the combined view. On my PowerBook G4, the same feed looks fine. It's been like that since one of the last few Betas (maybe B35?). I've tried trashing preferences and cache files, but that didn't seem to help.
Also, I'm often (but not always) unable to resize the columns when using the combined view on the Intel Mac.

| The thing is, I use an Intel Mac to do NetNewsWire development and the first round of testing, and haven't been able to reproduce it there yet. So it doesn't happen on every Intel Mac, anyway. Still looking for a way to reproduce it.

Hmmm... that does sound like a tough one.
One other bit of info that I haven't seen mentioned: When the problem happens, any adjustment to the size of the NNW window will cause things to lay out correctly. That is, if I select one of the feeds that exhibits the problem and then adjust the window size slightly, the big gaps disappear. If I subsequently switch to a different feed, and then back to the problematic one, the gaps show up again.
I know that doesn't really help much if the problem isn't reproducible for you, but thought I'd mention it in case there's a clue in there somewhere.

I switched from Windows in March and currently I am using an intel iMac and a MacBook. Coming from FeedDemon with a NewsGator account, it seemed natural to pick up NetNewsWire and, of course, I wanted to use the "Newspaper" layout (aka Combined View), but this "huge gap" bug drove me crazy so much, that I stopped using NetNewsWire. But this trick with resizing gave back my hope.
Please fix this annoying bug and I will buy NetNewsWire immediately.
