I am running Mac OS X 10.4.8 on a 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro with 2 GB of RAM and I believe that NetNewsWire 3.0d46 prevents OS X from going to sleep.

I am not running any other applications apart from LaunchBar (which, to the best of my knowledge, has never prevented sleep) and quitting NNW seems to solve the problem.

I have tried setting NNW to refresh all subscriptions manually only but that doesn't seem to work.

Is anyone else seeing similar behaviour?

Thanks in advance,

-- Paul

I have a mbp running 10.4.8 and have no such problem. This beta works quite well for me. I do not let my machine go to sleep unless I close the lid but have had no problems with that.

Sorry, I should have clarified what kind of sleep I was referring to: the computer does not seem to go to sleep after being inactive for approximately 10-15 minutes (the default Energy Saver settings for "Power Adapter").

It still sleeps as expected when the lid is closed.

Apologies,

I have the same issue also. If I close the lid everything works as expected, if I leave my MBP open and running, the screen turns off but the computer does not go to sleep and the 'Wake from Sleep' login does not appear when the screen is turned on.

I am having the same problem on a Mac Pro with OS X 10.4.9. If I put the machine to sleep manually it works... but will not go to sleep after 30 minutes of inactivity like it did prior to beta 3 install.

Thanks for the response. This is why I have never had any regret about paying for NNW. Lots of devs just ignore these problem reports.

I have to say that this may not be NNW 3's problem. I see this "won't wake from sleep" a LOT in 10.4.9 (and the Apple updates since then). There are quite a few reports of this scattered around the web (google "macbook pro sleep 10.4.9")

I'll post here if I figure it out....

As I posted here (in the wrong subforum) i've found the same bug. I've got a MBP and 10.4.9 too. And it's not a "won't wake from sleep" problem - it's "won't go to sleep".

After uninstalling NNW temporarily the sleep mode worked fine.

It's possible that NNW's disk access is keeping sleep from activating. Is your refresh schedule less than your sleep time-out??
