Hi,

since i'm using NNW 3.0, my Mac won't go in suspend mode when active. With NNW 2.x i've no problems.

Any hints?

Best,
Martin

Unfortunately, we haven't been able to reproduce this, and the developer has no idea HOW he could prevent sleep even if he wanted to...

Can you give us the specs on your machine and see if we can narrow it down to processor or something similar.

Yes, of course.

It's a MacBook Pro 2,16 Core2Duo with 2GB RAM, Mac OS X 10.4.9 with all Updates.

After uninstalling NNW temporarily sleep mode is working well.

Thanks! Just one more clarification - Does this effect both Automatic and Manual sleep?? or does it work if you manually tell it to go to sleep??

In that case: what is your sleep time set to, and what is your refresh schedule (in NNW)??

30 minutes refresh in NNW, sleep after 5 minutes (Standard "Long Battery Life")

The bug is still there in the "final" 3.0.

Very sad. NNW is not usable for me with this bug.

Hmmm we thought we had fixed this, but since we have not been able to reproduce it at all, there is no way for us to be sure.

If you want to try some drastic steps, can you try this:

  • Close NNW
  • Delete your preferences file: ~/Library/Preferences/com.ranchero.NetNewsWire.plist
  • Delete your application folder: ~/Library/Application Support/NetNewsWire/
  • Restart NNW and see if the bug still exists
