Ok maybe i just dont get it. but i dont seem to be able to figure out how to get NG to download posts and/or full articles for offline use. when my radio goes out (ie on plane) i see the count of articles but no posts in most of the feeds. Could you explain how this feature works. Thanks.

The mobile reader will not retrieve whole articles for every post automatically. You have to manually retrieve the articles that you would like to read before you get to an area where you do not have internet access.

Thanks!
Is there a way to download the entire post, or summary of all posts automatically?

Keith, from a useability stand point, lets say i am about to get on a plane or go into a tunnel, or somthing where i am going to loose coverage for the forseeable future and i would like to read posts offline, how would i do this? if you could walk me through the steps that would be appricated. If i cant read the full article thats fine, can i at least read the full post? How do i go about downloading all the unread posts before i go dark?

Thank you.

I apologize for the long delay in responding. I have been pretty busy lately and was unable to get back to the forums for any length of time.

At the moment there is no built-in feature that would allow you to prefetch whole or even partial articles for offline reading. I did bring this idea up with the developers as a possible 3.0 direction. They seemed receptive and are considering the programming obstacles.

To be honest, it would be impossible to download every article from every feed for offline reading. But, it may be possible to specify 3 - 5 feeds to be prefetched, which could conceivably be 150 - 250 articles.

The goal that I was shooting for is to give the user about two hours worth of offline reading material. This would satisfy most commuters traveling through dead spots as well as business travelers on the go.

I would like to see something like this as well. I can't really use GO in the subway since it doesn't download the articles. As far as the amount of content being downloaded, does FeedDemon not DL the images and articles etc for OFFLINE? In other words, can you not use a similar implementation?

If it's a space issue, I"m not sure that's a concern. I removed alot of the language packs off of my blackberry... as in all of them but English, and now my free space went from about 8 megs to about 28 megs.

Space was the original concern. We limited the number of articles retrieved to 50 per feed because of spatial concerns, and because we wanted to get a product out that worked for the typical user. Now that we have a solid base to grow from, we are considering more user-tailorable options.

FeedDemon does have a prefetch feature that will download images and text, if they are available in the feed. This is exactly the type of thing that we are considering for Go!, minus the images of course.

What's the issue or problem with loading images? Can we have this as an option?

I have just added this as a feature request. This feature request is quickly becoming a priority as more and more people are requesting it. Thank you for the feedback.
