Hiya
Ongoing problem, in startup phase, up to and including first part of .Mac sync NNW grabs 110% of processor time (or more) and stalls my Quad CoreG5 for 60 secs to 120 secs, which is quite a feat. This is b18 and consistent every time.
No other app I have does this, not wven Word or Photoshop

You don't say if you're using 3.0 or 3.0.1, but if like me you worked through the beta phase, then to 3.0, then to 3.0.1, you've had the same experience as me. And there is a thread about it somewhere here.
Short take - something was changed (Spotlight behaviour?) in 3.0.1, but it fnargles the system on NNW startup. I downgraded to 3.0, and things are much better.
