| I've installed feedstation and have read the other forum postings with regards to feedstation but it appears that I am still missing something. I am not able to figure out how to get a podcast from newsgator online to feedstation. There is mention of a green button on different posts in which you can use to download a podcast but I am not sure how to get the magic link. Is it just certain podcasts that are possible? I have tried this with Hanselminutes, dot net rocks and several other podcasts that i just picked from the search within newsgator online. Can someone provide me with some additional information and if I am trying this with the wrong blogs, can you post a blog in which does work so that i can truly test this? Thanks, Beac

You'll need to do two things to get FeedStation going properly. First you'll need to configure FeedStation for downloading from your NewsGator Online Account. Here's how:
1. Click on Tools | Options | My Podcasts
2. Check the box at the top labeled "Automatically download My Podcasts"
3. Enter your NewsGator Online account credentials
4. Establish the check interval
5. You can also have FeedStation check at startup
Now log in to your NewsGator Online account and get everything set up there. Here's how:
1. Right click on the My Clippings folder and select "New Folder"
2. Create a folder called My Podcasts
3. Fill this folder with the podcasts that you want FeedStation to download
Now you can click on the green icon on the FeedStation toolbar to force it to check your NewsGator Online account for new items.

Additionally, the green button that you referred to is still available in the classic reader. It was removed in the new reader because many users found it to be confusing.

| Thanks Keith, I was using the new beta reader and couldn't get it to work. I'll switch back to the classic view and hope this gets integrated with the new upcoming reader. Thanks again for such great products! Beac

| I followed these instructions, but when I try to manually add a feed -- I am not presented with the "My Clippings" folder (nor any of it's subfolders, like the "My Podcasts" folder I created). I am only presented with the "My Feeds" folder and it's subfolders. So alternatively, I added the podcast feeds within the My Feeds folder, and attempted to move them to the "My Podcasts" folder (which is nested within the "My Clippings" folder) I get an error message: "* Cannot move across root folders." Is there something wrong with my account? -Ken

| Ken, Are you in the classic online reader? This is the only interface in which you can subscribe to podcasts (that I know of). Beac

| With the online reader (Classic or Beta) you can subscribe to a podcast feed, but you can't automatically have every one of the podcasts attached to the feed downloaded for you. I think the confusion comes because people don't realize that a podcast feed is a regular RSS feed that has enclosures (attachments). Not all Podcast feeds contain only the audio file, some of them are accompanied by text. What you need to do is subscribe to the feed as normal, then clip each particular post that you want downloaded to the My Podcasts folder. The Podcast for that POST is then downloaded. You can't put an entire feed in the My Podcasts clippings folder except by clipping each post.

So, do I understand this correctly? I cannot use feedstation/feeddemon/newsgator to subscribe to a podcast and have new podcasts automatically added to iTunes at regular intervals? I need to go to feeddemon, look for new episodes, add the individual episodes to the "My Clippings/My Podcasts" folders at which point those episodes will be downloaded and added to iTunes and then tomorrow I need to do that again for whatever new episodes I want?

No, if you're using FeedDemon, it will automatically download the enclosure (via feedstation if you have that set up and"automatically download enclosures" marked). It's if you're using NGO and not one of the local clients that he's referring to.

Trying to get this set up:
In FeedStation / Tools Options /My Podcasts - I have 'Automatically Download My Podcasts' ticked:
I have managed to download a test podcast, though I am confused in the difference between using FeedDemon or Newsgator to add a podcast feed.
If I use Newsgator, I add the feed (containing the Podcast) somewhere in My Feeds. Then drag a show to My Clippings / My Podcasts. I can see that gives me the ability to play from within Newsgator. Though this step is only needed if you want to play it directly there.
Since I have ticked in FeedDemon 'Automatically Download......' I assume that any new show is automatically downloaded, even if I have not added it to My Podcasts in Newsgator !
Should there not be, after a sync a sub folder of My clippings called My Podcasts in FeedDemon now ? Or is FeedDemon only dealing with new podcasts which it sees in from the entries in the Subcription list.
Sorry to go around in circles. Are my assumptions above correct.
