I've got following questions regarding the excellent widgets:

Does the system support atom feeds? I have registered a blogspot.com atom feed at feedburner. Now i can neither find posts out of the blogspot feed nor from the feedburner.

Can i add such a widget created at your platform simply add to the Google Gadget directory?

Thanks

Markus

Q: Does the system support atom feeds?
A: Absolutely!

Q: I have registered a blogspot.com atom feed at feedburner. Now i can neither find posts out of the blogspot feed nor from the feedburner.
A: When I have a new feed that I put into a widget, I sometimes don't see any content right away.  This can take some time if the NewsGator aggregator has never heard of the feed before. When this occurs, I will usually subscribe to the feed in my online account (or FeedDemon or NetNewsWire) to verify whether or not the system has pulled in the content.
If the content is visible via the NG reader of choice, and the widget still will not show it, then there are a number of things that could be wrong with the feed. The widgets are a bit more discriminating about what content they will show. We often see cases like this where the published dates in the feed are not being set properly, and the widget will not show the posts even though they are in our system.  Try subscribing via a reader and let me know what you get.

Q: Can i add such a widget created at your platform simply add to the Google Gadget directory?
A: We have built into the widgets functionality designed to make it easy to add them to Google and several other places.  At the bottom of the widget is a "Get This" link.

If you click on that, you will see a number of options for adding the widget to different sites such as  TypePad, Blogger, Netvibes and of course Google.

Try that out and see if you get what you need.

Thanks for the questions, I hope this helps.

Like you've said, after a while I could see the content stream, today again and it is always happening with feeds created by google.

Good, but it would be great if one could set up such a widget, send it to google and after acceptance it would appear in the iGoogle directory. However, a great tool!

Now I have subscribed to your Online RSS reader and now I can see that your system struggles with the Google RSS although the URL can be read via Explorer and other RSS Reader Desktop clients. Is there any solution?

Hey "Spike",

I'd have to look at a specific feed to figure out what the issue is. Can you post the URL here? ...or if its a private feed, just send it to support@newsgator.com with "attention: Dan Borrego re: http://forum.newsgator.com/Topic30566-52-1.aspx" in the body.

IIRC, the Newsgator platform has problems with feeds that require cookie-based authentication, which most Google/Gmail/Google Groups/etc feeds do.

If I might be so bold, let me say that feeds that require cookie-based authentication are completely and utterly broken.  Google and Gmail feeds do not require cookies, at least last time I looked.

Happy to have a longer discussion about why this is the case...although this probably isn't the place.  Maybe I'll write another blog post about it.

I think this case may be because some Google groups feeds are blocking our content servers - We have emailed Google to try and get it fixed, but haven't received a response yet.

Has anyone actually tried to contact google to report a problem with an RSS feed?? their contact information is almost impossible to find!!

Could someone explain to me if it's possible to see my Newsgator scubscriptions on my iGoogle homepage? I've searched around, and I get the impression that it can be done, but I've found no simple explanation of how to do it. Any help? I'm hoping that I will be able to see and read them as I can with my Google Reader subscriptions - is that possible?
