I've been experiencing a crashing issue with Go! since the very first release. I've been living with it and have been waiting patiently for the next beta release in the hope this issue will be fixed. Since the beta appears to have been delayed (according to this thread it should have been out around a week ago) I'm posting this in the hope that someone can tell me if this will even be fixed as part of that beta.

Specifically the issue occurs when a feed item has a Digg link that must contain some sort of redirect or referrer. If such an item is viewed in Go! PIE will launch by itself and go to the Digg site when the Digg badge for the original feed is displayed. Switching back to Go! will be followed shortly by a silent crash of Go! - it will simply close with no message. This can be easily reproduced as it happens each and every time a news item that has been "Dugg" is viewed. I've seen it on different feeds, but most often on the popular Engadget feed.

Thanks!
Pete

This is actually not an application crash. What is happening is that PIE consumes all the available memory when loading some of these links and the Operating System silently closes down any applications in the background.

If Go! is one of those applications it will be shut down by the OS.  One way to make this behave better is to turn on "skweezing" of web pages. This can be done from the application settings screen. The checkbox option is called "Format web for mobile" and this can be done using either the Skweezer or Google transcoder (the user gets to pick).

Thanks for the reply.

I should have mentioned that I have already tried this - the problem persists. Note also that the Digg link is opened and PIE is launched without actually clicking on anything. This is not normal behavior.

Newsgator Go will crash (or close - I understand the distinction, but it's a distinction without a difference in this case) even if it is the foreground application and I have first stopped PIE from loading the Digg page before switching back to Go. Generally the crash will occur when I scroll down in an artcle that spawned the Digg redirect. Note that all that is loaded in PIE is the small badge that appears on a webpage when it's been "Dugg" - not a lot of data. Also, only Go closes (or crashes...) - other apps remain open in the background.

Hopefully this additional info helps...

Pete
