I've just installed NewsGator Go! on a new WM6 pda (HTC Tytn II) and I get this error message when trying to sync: "Please check your credentials and ensure you have a network connection".

I've tried reinstalling (both from the exe and from the cab), I'm using the right version (ppc), I've checked my credentials and they work perfectly on the website, the connection on my pda works fine for everything else.

I was wondering if perhaps there could be a problem with my previous installation on a different pda. Does the system keep track of the different installations?

There are no problems with installing on a new device.. there must be something else going on.

Give this a try:

1. Uninstall the app

2. Soft Reset the device

3. Delete the go! application folder (if it has not been removed by the uninstall)

4. Reinstall

It didn't work.

Go! opens the connection then it tries to login, at this point I receive the message "Please check your newsgator credentials".

I'm using exactly the same username and password that I use on the website.

If you have a few minutesI'd like to get you to try the Go! beta... it is built against the latest framework which addresses some issues in the networking api's.

You can get that here: http://www.newsgator.com//ngs/subscriber/NGOLMobileDownloadBeta.aspx

Be sure to do a complete uninstall before installing the beta.

Thanks!

I recently had this exact problem on my Tytn using the beta Go! Windows mobile client, it wasn't working no matter what, everytime it'd stuff up with the error message the original poster had.

I did a hard reset the other day and low and behold it doesn't do it anymore, i think it may have been because i had .Net compact 3.0 installed. Anyway, long story short, every now and then my first initial daily sync in the morning still does this, then i sync again and it works fine!

I've tried the beta, but the program still has the same behaviour. It still doesn't log me in.

I have the .Net compact 3.0 installed as Ruxton had.

Unfortunately I can't afford an hard reset (I need the .Net 3.0 and it would be a pain to reinstall all the programs I have now).

Give me a couple of days and i'll try get my Jasjam to do it again, i'm 90% certain it's .Net CF 3.0, so i'll install it and find out. Hard resets don't phase me as anything of any importance is in exchange

Yeap, after re-installing .Net CF 3, the problem persists.

A couple of things to note, this time i already had Newsgator Go! installed, i installed the .Net CF 3.5 Beta 1 from microsoft here and then i rebooted the device.

I loaded up Ng Go! and it worked fine, it updated feeds, etc. no problems. So, remembering that last time i was dealing with a fresh install, i uninstalled NG Go!, rebooted and tried to login, and the problem showed up again.

So in short, try uninstalling .net cf 3 and signing into Newsgator Go! and get it to remember your credentials, then install .Net CF 3 and you should be able to sync without a problem, as it's not going to ask you for your login details again. The problem seems to exist somewhere in the login screen section of the app.

*UPDATE: I found that after removing .Net CF 3, Ng Go! must be removed and re-installed while .Net CF 3 is uninstalled, then i added my credentials while it was uninstalled, signed in, synced up and everything was working sweet again. If i tried to use it after removing .Net CF 3 but not re-installing, the same error came up.

I found a possible reason for this, i could be way off but who knows.. an HTTPS bug in NetCF that causes NetCF to throw a WebException
