OK, I'm confused.
I understand that Beta is now the New and the Old is now the Beta - however, which am I on? I was using the beta exclusively for almost the entire time it's been available - does this mean what I'm using now that has the "Newsgator Online beta" banner is now the "new beta" and not the "new reader"?

Not quite... Having 2 readers was proving to be very inefficient to maintain. What we did was basically take the classic reader, strip out the least useful part, threw in some of the most stable AJAX goodness of the (old) beta reader, and created a new lean and fast reader. This is now our only reader, but for now we are still considering it beta (though there is no alternative).
This gives us a quick, stable platform that will allow us to develop faster without breaking existing functionality. As I'm sure you'll recall, that has been a problem for a while.
So to sum up:
* Classic Reader - Gone
* Beta Reader (old) - Gone
* New Classic-Beta-Hybrid is the platform we will be developing on.

Thanks - that clarifies things a lot! The other announcements were making it sound like you were still running two readers. I understand now  .
