Hi,

In the last 6 months I have tried a number of times unsuccesfully to get the Newsgator Go! client installed on my SonyEricsson w880.

The most reason attempt was with version 2.2.7.

The installation procedure works fine, as does the log in. Once I log in it shows the titles of all of my feeds. When I click on one of the feeds to open it however, I always get the following error message:

20 Communication error: invalid gzip format (java.io.IOException: invalid gzip format).

I'm wondering if anybody knows what the solution to this problem is. I have installed numerous other J2ME apps on my phone, including Google Maps, Yahoo Go! and plenty of games without any real issue.

TIA

What carrier are you using?

Can you please try trimming your list of feeds? You can do this from Settings | Download I believe. Please set the max subscription download to 5 or even 1 to see if it has any effect.

The carrier I am using is KPN in the Netherlands.

I'm not quite sure exactly what you wanted me to do. I selected Settings using my right soft key and then went to Downloads.

The closest two items to what you indicated were:

Maximum size of full story text downloaded (in Kbytes > 0): 64

I changed this to 5

Number of threads for download (advanced requires restart): 2

I changed this to 1.

I then rebooted my phone but it didn't have any affect.

Please note I can see my full menu structure as I see it in Feeddemon it is simply when I try to drill down into the feed that I get the Invalid gzip format error message.

Hope this helps.

I get this same error. I had been using Newsgator Go with no problem for a couple of years. This error started showing up intermittently, now I get it always--my article list rarely downloads. Any help appreciated.
