HI!

Is there a possibility for Outlook, when previewing an RSS post, not to use Internet Explorer as the browser engine, but Firefox instead?

Thanks!

I'm not using Inbox myself, but are you asking for Firefox to be the preview window inside of Outlook? If so, then no. Outlook is designed to use IE and Firefox isn't really embeddable anyway (this keeps coming up as an issue for FeedDemon).

Thanks Jack!
This is exactly what I've been looking for.

I didn't know there was much discussion on this one. Isn't there anything that can be done?

Nick just recently posted about this on his blog and he's gotten a few replies back from Moz folks about it, but nothing close to "yes, this will be available at some date."

About all that can really be done is keeping a fire lit under the Moz developers to make it happen. But even if they do work some magic, I doubt it would ever be available inside of Outlook. That is until MS buys Moz.

Thanks Jack...

Actually newer versions of Outlook use Word to render HTML which is much more restrictive than anything else.

Ah Microsoft... thanks for making my job harder ;-)

And I almost added an "I'm not a programmer" disclaimer... Shows what I know - I never even realized that when it was my job to know those kinds of things.

Hi Nick -

Because of the Outlook 2007 / Word relationship I can't view my posts in NewsGator Inbox - When I click the "Go To Site" button it opens the post INSIDE Outllok, and then I get horrible JavaScript pop-up errors in Outlook. (Try any Engadget.com post for example.)

How do we make the "Go to site" button open in our default browser, NOT Outlook (my default is Firefox, so that's what I want it in). When I right click and choose "Open in new window" it opens the link in a new IE window... very annoying!

I'm assuming this is an Outlook issue rather than a NGI issue, but is there anything we can do?

Thanks,

Jake.

It is an Outlook issue, but there's a feature request for Inbox 3.1 to handle this better. Inbox 3.1 will be mostly changes to the NewsPage by adding a lot more options - that's why it didn't get worked on for Inbox 3.0.

The way I deal with this is to click on the link title to open the Outlook post item in it's own "inspector". If you click on the url there, it will open in FireFox (I'm a FireFox person as well).

Not ideal, but it does work.
