I use th Cleanup Wizard weekly and it usually removes about 400 feeds. I installed the beta earlier this week and today used the Cleanup Wizard and....it says it cleaned up 2,400 feeds! Now that's a thorough cleaning.....

POSTSCRIPT: On the next feed update, FeedDemon pulled in a bunch of older feeds. I went through and read them, then ran Cleanup Wizard again. It deleted 97 items. For yucks, I updated the feeds. Same thing. It's pulling in the same old feeds and when I read them and clean-up, 97 are deleted again. In Options, all items are checked and it's set for 60 days and 100 items.

I just upgraded to version 2.6.1.2 Beta 3 and I'm having the same problem. I used the Cleanup Wizard and it cleaned up 568 items (impossible, I just ran it two days ago). Then when I updated the feeds again, it grabbed 99. Ninety-seven of them were old....some more than a week old.

Are the removed posts coming back as unread, or are they all marked read?  Also, are the posts that are coming back in feeds which are synched with NewsGator?

Thanks,

They're coming back as UNREAD, they're NOT in synchronized folders, it's doing this on every Clean-up, and it's never happened before with any version.

For the record, I just ran another clean-up and it removed 1,602 items (??!). No way. It would be more like 400 since the last clean-up. When I updated feeds it downloaded 139 of them, some as old as last week.....

OK, this might be due to feeds not using publication dates for their items.

FeedDemon remembers when a feed has been cleaned up, so that any "new" item whose publication date is prior to the cleanup date can be ignored.  This fails, of course, if the feed doesn't contain publication dates for individual items (most feeds these days do have pubDates, but there are still a lot which don't).

Can you provide the URLs of a couple feeds whose items keep coming back following a cleanup?  I'll take a look at them and see if this is indeed the problem.

The strange part is I've never had this problem until this Beta.

Hmmm...both of those feeds use publication dates, so something else must be going wrong.  I've subscribed to those feeds and will test with them for a day or two - I'll reply again here when I've figured out what the problem is.

Thanks,

I was able to reproduce the problem with the Craiglist feed, and I believe it's caused by a change I made in 2.6.1 regarding the way older items are purged from the feed.  This will be fixed in the next build.
