| Following the advice on this forum, I attempted to correct a Feed Demon problem by downloading and installing 2.6.1.3 RC1 Beta. It fixed the problem, but I kept getting interrupted by ZoneAlarm finding and attempting to treat and remove the Exploit.HTML.CodeBaseExec virus. After trying all sorts of ways to find and remove the source of the virus, I finally removed the Beta and replaced it with 2.6, the regular download. The virus has not returned since. It looks like there may be a problem there.

My guess is a false positive. Submit it to your AV software vendor for confirmation.

| Those virus vendors make it really hard to track down what exactly triggers detection of that "virus". I finally found one - it's related to the codebase attribute of object tags. Funny thing is, as far as I know FeedDemon doesn't use object tags except where they exist in the original feed.
Please note that I am not actually employed by NewsGator, and my opinions should not be taken as their official stance on any matter. I'm just a happy FD user (since pre-1.0 alpha in 2003) helping out where I can.

| Jack is most likely correct about this being a false positive. We've seen that happen a few times in the past, and it went away once the AV vendor updated their virus definitions. Do you recall which feed or web page you were viewing in FeedDemon when ZoneAlarm displayed that alert?

Thanks for the replies. The virus would turn up in a sort of random manner, but always in going from Feed Demon feeds to web pages in Firefox. Sometimes I had to reboot in order to get rid of it.
I should probably mention than when I uninstalled the Feed Demon beta, I used a program which also removed the registry mentions of it. I have had no trouble at all since I reinstalled 2.6.
