By default, in Vista Newsgator slaps its PST file somewhere like:
C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\
I prefer to have all my PST files somewhere else, on a different drive that I can easily backup.
Looking at the messages here, the help files and stuff, I can see no place within Newsgator Inbox where I can tell it to look somewhere else.
I know how to manage PST files in "Mail" in the Control Panel.
Searching here for "PST" finds mostly old messages that do not seem to relate to the current way of working.
Can anyone help?

The easiest way to do this is to go ahead and create a new PST in the location you want it.
Next, go to NewsGator Inbox > Options > Folder Options, and change your "Base News Folder" and "Base Clipping Folder" to folders under your new PST. Inbox will prompt you to let it move everything, which I recommend.
That's it - Inbox will use the new PST and you'll be able to easily back it up!

Thanks. That provides the clues I needed.
There are other steps that people should take.
One is to close the original Newsgator PST database. Then open the new one.
Then they can make the changes you suggested.
Rather than create a new PST file, I copied the original from one location to another. If the two are contemporaries, there may be no needed to allow it to move stuff.
