I am using Vista Ultimate. I could Install NewsGator Desktop. However when I start application, it starts with wizard and second page, after I key in login information, it displays following message.

Could not connect to NewsGator Web Services: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive.

I have allowed this application from firewall and even tried after disabling firewall. What could be wrong?

Regards,
Shail

This is almost always caused by a firewall closing a connection that .Net expects to be kept alive.

What kind of firewall do you have?

This seems not a problem caused by firewall on my PC. The problem remains even if I uninstalled OneCare software and allowed NewsGator Desktop through windows firewall. These seems to be some other internet/network settings is causing this issue. Please inform, if posting some more info will allow to debug this issue.

I would verify your proxy connection as well.

Firewalls can be tricky though. You may have another one, one that you may have actually uninstalled that is still blocking requests.

I do not use proxy to connect to internet. I had made it sure that I disable all the fire walls. It consistently gives same error.
