| Some of those feeds are empty. I found two that had 404'd repeatedly in the past, so the platform wasn't handling them anymore. I reported it to the platform folks.

Interestingly, when I validate my craigslist feeds through netnewswire, often the first time I validate them they fail with a 404, and the second time I validate they work properly. When I validate by pasting the feed directly in the validator they always check out.
For CraigsList specifically I have noticed that the feeds update once upon subscription, and then fail to update thereafter. I have the feeds in google reader as well and they stay up to date there, so I surmise this is a netnewswire issue rather than an rss issue.
several of the feeds that I have:
http://newyork.craigslist.org/search/mcy?query=bmw&minAsk=min&maxAsk=max&format=rss
http://newyork.craigslist.org/search/mcy?query=project+bike&minAsk=min&maxAsk=max&format=rss
validation here:
http://feedvalidator.org/check?url=http:%2F%2Fnewyork.craigslist.org%2Fsearch%2Fmcy%3Fquery%3Dbmw%26minAsk%3Dmin%26maxAsk%3Dmax%26format%3Drss
http://feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fnewyork.craigslist.org%2Fsearch%2Fmcy%3Fquery%3Dproject%2Bbike%26minAsk%3Dmin%26maxAsk%3Dmax%26format%3Drss
I think I read that if NNW gets a 404 once they assume the feed is dead and dont attempt to update it thereafter... seems like there should be at least 3 retries daily before it is assumed broken. The other option is the actual subscription interaction between FF and NNW to get the feed in. (Just my newb 2 cents worth)
Thoughts? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I use NNW to aid in my motorcycle and apartment searches and without it, I've been forced to bookmark searches and check manually every couple of hours.
Thanks
S

When a feed returns a 404, I believe we keep checking for a month.
That said, we've had some issues with Craig's List throttling our feed-reading. One thing you could do until this is resolved is unsubscribe then re-subscribe -- but this time with syncing turned off.

I'm having issues with Craig's List feeds as well. I load them into NNW and they display everything current, however they do not update after that. If I remove them and then re-add them then they get the newer items, but not otherwise.
To test this yesterday I removed them from both NNW and my Google Reader, then re-added them and marked them all as read. Today there are new items in Google Reader, but NNW still shows the feeds as having no new items.
Any ideas how to fix this?

| Your best bet with Craig's List feeds: unsubscribe, then re-subscribe as *not* synced. They sometimes block our content system from reading feeds, so you're better off with them as not-synced.
