Hi, first time poster. I've been using FeedDemon for over a year now, paid for it, in fact. I was curious...I know that FeedDemon syncs my feeds to my Newsgator account. But does the Newsgator account sync to FeedDemon, as well?

In other words, if I log into Newsgator at work, read a bunch of feeds, and then go home and fire up FeedDemon, will FeedDemon reflect the changes in my feeds from Newsgator?

Thanks.

Yes, the synchronization process is a two-way street. When FeedDemon syncs with NewsGator Online it sends its changes and in the process picks up any changes from your NewsGator Online account.

Are there any know bugs to the sync functionality? I'm using Newsgator Online, NNW and FD. My _feeds_ seems to sync, that is whenever I add or delete a feed, the actions is replicated at all three places. But _items_ doesn't seem to sync. Some does sometimes, but most of the time, stuff that's marked read in FD is still marked unread in NO and NWW. And other similar problems.

I'm having a similar problem. I read some messages in FeedDemon, then synchronized. When I later logged on to NewsGator, those same messages were still marked as unread.

I've never had this work as expected. Is there something I need to do to configure it? I looked through the settings and didn't find anything.

You may have a failure in one of your locations. Each instance of one of our newsreaders created a unique location, or should. It is possible you may be using the same location name for say your home and work computers.

If that is the case please create a unique location name for one of these programs.

You might also try deleting the location where you believe the problem to be. It's easy to do. Here's how:

Here's how to delete a location:

1. Close your newsreader
2. Log in to NewsGator Online
3. Click on Settings | Edit Locations
4. Find the appropriate location
5. Launch the newsreader

The reader will retrieve your subscription list from NewsGator Online and re-create the location that we have just deleted.

Just did. But the unread count is still off. For some, seldom read, folders, it's correct. But for those I read on a daily basis, it's not.

Any ideas?

In FeedDemon try the Resync Now feature. Go to Tools | Synchronization Options | Advanced tab | Resync Now button.

In NetNewsWire try the Starting Over option. You can find it in Options | Syncing tab | Starting Over button. Choose the option that best fits your needs.
