I've read through the "feeds not updating?" threads, and this seems to be rather different.

Setup: I'm running NetNewsWire 3.1.7b2 on OS 10.5.4 on a MacBook Pro. I only read from one computer and have no syncing in place. I have NNW set to refresh all feeds on startup, and thereafter every 30 minutes.

I upgraded from 10.4 to Leopard last night, and my previously intermittent problem with NNW has now become continuous. The upgrade went smoothly and all other apps seem to be working fine.

I've had this problem intermittently over the past few weeks as I say - not sure how long, sorry. It is possible that it has been since the last NNW update, but I can't be sure about that.

Since my Leopard upgrade last night, it's continuous. What happens is that I start up, my feeds load and refresh as per normal, but the refresh process doesn't seem to "release" when it's completed - feeds don't refresh every half hour, and the "Refresh All" button stays greyed out as if a refresh is in process at the time. "Refresh All Subscriptions" is also greyed out under the News menu in the menubar. I left it several hours, and no auto-refreshes took place.

When I check the Activity window, the progress bar is present and fully-blue, and it says below "0 current downloads, 0 pending, 903 completed." (The Cancel All button in the Activity window is greyed-out also.) And it just stays this way. I can't refresh individual feeds with cmd-R after NNW gets "stuck" in this way. It's as if there is a timed Refresh lockout that isn't releasing or something? (I don't know if that's the actual case, just describing how it "feels").

Before Leopard, when this happened, I could quit NNW, relaunch it, and it would usually go back to the normal half-hour refreshes happily. Now, it's stuck every time - I only get a startup refresh, and I can't automatically or manually refresh it after that. I've relaunched NNW about half a dozen times with the same result.

I hope I've described this adequately - please ask me questions if something is unclear.
