I have Growl turned on for NetNewsWire & in all the time I've been using it I can't remember ever seeing an updated item when Growl displays for 'Feed Updated'. So it always shows something like:
New Items: 2
Updated Items: 0
Any chance of adding the option not to display this, or only display it when something has actually been updated? 
(So it would only show the 'New Items' part).
