When selecting a folder containing multiple feeds, I'd like to be able see read items. Is there a way to do this?

I should be able to see read items until they disappear from their feeds. It's so common that I go back to a folder looking for something I recently read but I can't find it because there's no way to see the read items as a group. Instead, I have to click on each item individually.

This would be less of a problem if "find" searched the contents of the feeds, like it should, but it doesn't.

There isn't a way to do this -- mainly for performance reasons. (It could be many many thousands of items.)

But the search field in the toolbar searches the contents of feeds. You should be able to find anything that way.

I can dig that performance might be an issue, but a smart view that shows all read articles doesn't seem to have any problems displaying 5200 items.

I didn't even realize that there was a different kind of find in the toolbar, since I have had it set to text only for years.

You could create a smart list that shows all items in a group.

Yes, I could, but then I'd have to create a smart list for every single folder. That would be kind of ridiculous.

My workaround is to expand a folder, select multiple feeds, temporarily toggle News > Read Items > Hide (Shift-Command-H) off, and possibly change the sort order. I've done it frequent enough that it's second nature now, but not enough to become overly tedious.

NNW does not seem to have any trouble displaying thousands, even tens of thousands, unread news items at the folder level. Or at the Top Level for that matter.

I 2nd the request for being able to to view read items at the folder level (assuming that read items are toggled to be viewed). For those that don't want to see them or for whom this does create a performance problem it is real easy for them to toggle read items to be hidden.

Thanks,

Steve
