I have NNW set to open links in Safari, but when NNW and Safari are on two different spaces, clicking a link in NNW will switch to a different space, unminimize a minimized Safari window and open a new tab.

Is this normal behavior? How can I make it use the non-minimized Safari window that is currently open?

I doubt NNW has any control over where Safari decides to open the link.

There is one option you can try if you're running 10.5.3 or above - in spaces preferences, at the bottom is a checkbox that turns off automatic space switching. It makes life a tad more difficult in that single clicking a dock icon won't switch (you need to click it twice), but it does stop all the crazy space switching when you least expect it.

Me, I eventually got sick of spaces and went back to expose.

Please note that I am not actually employed by NewsGator, and my opinions should not be taken as their official stance on any matter. I'm just a happy FD user (since pre-1.0 alpha in 2003) helping out where I can.

You could also see if enabling/disabling NNW's "Open links in background" preference (on the Behavior tab of Browsing) makes any difference.

I'm about to install Leopard on this 10.4.11 system and looking for ways to avoid automatic Space-switching behavior, like this one between NNW and Safari, will be a high priority.
