I'm having problems loading PHP-based (WordPress) feeds. Trying to subscribe to the following feeds (2 RSS feeds and an Atom Feed):

http://www.aboutdamntime.net/wp-rss2.php
http://justasimpleonlinenerd.com/wp-rss2.php
http://justasimpleonlinenerd.com/wp-atom.php

yields the following error message:

"Error: subscription could not be added. Please check the URL and try again."

The same feeds load in Bloglines without any problems.

It looks like these feeds are all writing malformed HTTP headers (Last Modified as opposed to Last-Modified.)

We should be able to read them now, but ideally it would be best for them to send the right headers.

OK. A good bit of them are sort of "pre-programmed" feeds that are created by the blog software (Wordpress in this case). If I were to pass this back up to the Wordpress developers, what sort of information should I include (since I'm all for fixing the root of the problem)?

BTW, Thanks for looking into it!

Hey, no problem.  We live for this stuff.  Sometimes for days at a time without a break

You could have Word Press check out this item in their support forums: http://wordpress.org/support/4/6929

BTW, the second two feeds have other problems.  They appear to have HTML at the top of the feed, which makes the RSS p****r choke.

One of the comments on that site mentioned that it was fixed in the CVS build, but is broken in the current release (1.2.1), so they, apparantly, already know about it.

Thanks for the heads up on it, thought. I'll try to look into what's causing it to freak out and hope that the next release comes out pretty soon, or risk using the CVS release.

Bloglines must be doing a lot of behind the scenes hacks to get these feeds working. Not something I really encourage, but, hey, gotta do what you gotta do.

Thanks again!

It looks like it was the StatTraq plugin (http://www.randypeterman.com/StatTraq/index.php) that was causing my problems. I'm not sure if it's fixed in later versions of the plugin or not, but disabling it fixed my feed problems.

I am having the same problems.  I have several like-to-read blogs that are in WordPress and NewsGator is having trouble reading them (but not all of them).

Does this ("We should be able to read them now") mean that there is a new version of NewsGator somewhere?  I see that NGOL is able to read some of these "malformed" WordPress feeds, but NewsGator 2.0.3.3 won't let me add them.  (I put malformed in quotes because I ran them through FeedValidator.org and they come back as either fine or with warnings.)

For NewsGator Outlook, we have a work-around. Please read this knowledgebase article, and if you're experiencing the problems it describes, then apply the work-around.

http://newsgator.mykbpro.com/Article_6E834.aspx

If that doesn't fix the problem, please let us know.

I had a similar problem (and it seems just recently) for Craigslist RSS feeds. I used to get them, then they stopped and I get the same error. But I am able to subscribe to them in other RSS editors (like the built in one in Firefox as well as Sage).

I use the newsgator online version.
