We were trying to install Enterprise server on Win 2003 R2 standard edition. We followed setup instructions but had no luck to get it working.
Is there any checklist what to do to follow up from an clean install, from scratch? Which combination of server, SQL server, Active directory, Share point services ... works 100%? We are very bad in known windows based systems so it is possible that we made simple stupid mistakes.
Thank you for assistance.

| Did you download the "Express Installer"? In that case, if you run through the default settings, it will install the pre-requisites (including SQL Express). Do you have Active Directory?

Server 2003 R2 updated, Active directory
I tried with different versions of Sharepoint, Net Framework 2.0 and 3.5, SQL 2005 Express and with 2008 Express, AJAX 1.0 and with later one. Best result was partial working, SQL working, AD connection ok, than we got some IIS securtiy error / application errror. Sharepoint is working ok.
(we have bad system administration knowledge)
Do you have an working image for VMWARE or similar? That would be very good solution for testing - download and play.
