| hi, i am using newgator to hear the morning news, and the feed seems to be posted or refreshed by my mobile client (htc touch pro, windows mobile 6.1) only after some time, so i am not able to listen to the feed. but: i can see the refreshed feed with my normal browser on my laptop. so i think, the information is reproduced to the mobile client only after some time. how can i get updated feed to my mobile client? hannes

Hi hannes,
Newsgator Go sync's directly to the online version of NewsGator so at point of sync it should be 100% up to date with what's online, although it then caches this sync locally on the device until you next sync again.
Within 'Settings' > 'Synchronization' there are a range of options of whether and when Newsgator Go will automatically, or manually sync feeds with the online service.
Personally I'm a control freak so I switch off all the options within there and then just from the top level Feeds view just use 'Sync' on the left soft key to update the feeds whenever I'm about to start a reading session and what the latest latest, rather than catching up on older already cached stuff.
Automatic options you can choose in the tool are:
Automatically sync either every 15min, 1 hour, once per day at particular time
(Setting these to 15min or 1hour will obviously drain your battery due to data calls. Maybe setting it to do an auto sync at 7am before your commute might work for you?)
Sync on Start - Sync on first startup of program
(Note if you only minimised the app this won't fire, only on real startup)
Sync on Exit - Sync on exit of app
(Always seemed odd option as why bother to update feeds when you've just stopped looking at them? Guaranteed they'll be out of date by time you re-open app...and makes closing app slower. But someone obviously asked for this at some point!)
Sync when cradled - Will sync whenever you connect to a PC with ActiveSync
Supress sync prompt - If ticked will stop pop-up asking if you're sure you want to connect/update
(If using any auto settings make sure this is ticked. If using Manual, then your choice. I personally like confirmation in case I hit sync by mistake)
A final note: If you're having some but not other feeds updating or you've changed around folders/feeds organisation then it's worth doing a 'Reset Sync' from main menu.
If you want any more help on program settings then check out my Newsgator Go Settings thread - http://forum.newsgator.com/Topic44069-56-1.aspx
Hope that helps!
Alan

| thanks, i am also a control freak, that's why i manually refresh the feed, i don't sync it, because i have lots of them. could that be a problem? i also tried to reset sync. i have the problem with one specific feed: http://static.orf.at/podcast/oe1/oe1_journale.xml. i did a refresh on the feed, with no new information as a result. but looking at my newsgator account online, i already saw the up to date info. i'll check tomorrow. hannes

Thanks for the further info.
Agree that there shouldn't normally be a difference between Newsgator Online and WM Client if you've done a Reset sync on the device.
If your problem's only with this 1 feed now, and this continues when the next update to that feed has appeared online, I'd suggest you raise that specific feed as an issue in the main "NewsGator Online Support and Requests" forum where Newsgator staff will be able to look at it for you.
